Plumtree Launches Developer Support Program and Developer Tools
for its 2,000 Customer and Partner Developers
Plumtree Service Station and Dedicated Support Team Accelerate Service-Oriented
Application Development
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Enterprise Web leader
Plumtree Software (NASDAQ:PLUM) today announced a new support program for
customer and partner developers and a new testing tool, called Plumtree Service
Station, for accelerating development of custom Web services. Both offerings
were created to empower Plumtree's growing developer community, currently
numbering over 2,000 members, to build service-oriented applications quickly
and easily. Plumtree's new Developer Support Program includes a comprehensive
package of programming services, as well as dedicated phone and onsite support.
Plumtree Service Station offers developers a means for testing Integration Web
Services independent of the portal, dramatically speeding development and
testing of custom Web services.
Plumtree will host a Web seminar detailing the new support program and
demonstrating Plumtree Service Station on September 13, 2004. Customers and
partners can register for the seminar at http://www.plumtree.com/04/devsupport.
"Plumtree Developer Support has been crucial in supporting our effort to build
collaborative and user-centric applications that foster communication between
our corporate staff and our educational facilities," said Ray Simpson,
developer at Apollo Group, provider of higher education programs to working
adults. "We're excited that Plumtree has extended its developer support
offering and we plan to use its new services to speed our development cycle and
glean knowledge and code from Plumtree experts."
Plumtree's new class of developer support will automatically be credited to
customers who have Enterprise or Advanced support contracts with Plumtree.
Plumtree partners, including ISVs, systems integrators and resellers will
receive developer support services with the partner program's limited use
development license for all Plumtree products. For more information on joining
Plumtree's partner program, go to:
http://www.plumtree.com/partners/application/.
New Program Offers Personalized Developer Support
Based on upsurge of developer activity in the Plumtree community, Plumtree
designed its new support program to give developers faster and more
personalized assistance from Plumtree development experts. Plumtree's new
Developer Support Program includes:
-- A dedicated developer support team at Plumtree;
-- 12- and 24-hour response times for developer support issues depending
on priority of the issue;
-- Short-term programming services where Plumtree experts will code
portlets or other Web Services that can be completed within 24 hours;
-- Onsite developer support for issues that require in-person attention;
-- A named developer support account manager; and
-- Priority access to beta programs and pre-release developer products.
Plumtree Service Station Speeds Development of Integration Web Services
Before the launch of the Plumtree Service Station, developers building custom
Web Services had to use a portal environment to load, test and debug Web
services. Using Plumtree Service Station, developers can now develop and test
Integration Web Services independent of the portal environment. As a result,
development time is greatly reduced and developers are able to isolate problems
more easily. Plumtree Service Station includes:
-- A Graphical User Interface (GUI) that gives developers a way to create,
modify, monitor and test Integration Web Services without knowledge of
Java;
-- Support for JUnit, a Java-based automated testing framework, enabling
developers to build JUnit-based test cases for Plumtree Integration Web
Services;
-- Integration with multiple IDEs (Integrated Development Environments)
allowing developers to seamlessly test and debug Plumtree Integration
Web Services while remaining in their existing IDE; and
-- A logging service that supports troubleshooting by flagging unexpected
results and providing detailed activity of Integration Web Services,
including full SOAP logging.
With Service Station, developers now have one place to go for all their
Integration Web Service testing needs instead of using multiple debugging tools
in a portal environment. Plumtree Service Station and all relevant
documentation are available for download on the Plumtree Developer Center at:
http://devcenter.plumtree.com/.
"Plumtree has been recognized over and over for having customers with the most
sophisticated portal applications in the industry. Behind this success is a
vibrant community of innovative developers," said Eric Zocher, vice president
of product development. "Accordingly we've sharpened our focus on giving this
community the support and tools they need to build even more impressive
applications using Plumtree."
Web Seminars Help Developers Build Advanced Service-Oriented Applications

Business Intelligence (BI) systems, Identity Management systems and Enterprise
Resource Planning (ERP) systems into portal applications. To register for one
