PowerDsine Ltd. (NASDAQ:PDSN), a leading provider of
Power-over- Ethernet (PoE) technology, announced today that Sheridan
House, a non-profit organization which provides homes for children
with behavioral problems, has implemented PowerDsine's PoE midspans to
facilitate the deployment of new IP-based security cameras and
Wireless LAN (WLAN) access points at their campus in Ft. Lauderdale,
Florida.
PowerDsine's 12-port 6012 PoE Midspans, which are compliant with
the IEEE 802.3af PoE standard, was donated to Sheridan House as part
of its public grant program, in order to provide safe and
cost-effective power distribution for its campus-wide installation of
WLAN access points and IP network video cameras. The PowerDsine 6012
PoE Midspans work in conjunction with Sheridan House's existing legacy
Cisco switches.
"Knowing that PowerDsine is a pioneer in PoE technology gives us
peace of mind that we have a reliable solution in place to keep our
campus safe and wirelessly connected," said Robert Crooke, IT Manager
at Sheridan House. "Furthermore, as a non-profit organization, we
desire the most cost effective solutions and PowerDsine's midspans
allow us the opportunity to reallocate that money into new programs
for children and families."
The 6012 PoE midspan is a highly scalable 12-port solution. It
offers an automatic detection and protection device and works with a
centralized Uninterruptible Power Supply solution to distribute
back-up power to IP video cameras and WLAN access points across
Sheridan House's campus-wide network.
"Sheridan House wanted to deploy new security cameras and a
wireless network throughout their facility quickly and
cost-effectively. We are pleased that our Power over Ethernet midspans
enhanced their installation process," said Igal Rotem, CEO and
Co-Founder of PowerDsine. "Today, the staff and residents of Sheridan
House can enjoy reliable high-speed wireless connectivity in a secure
environment."
About Power over Ethernet Technology
PoE is a technology for wired Ethernet, the most widely installed
local area network technology in use today. PoE allows the electrical
power necessary for the operation of each end-device, to be carried by
data cables rather than by separate power cords. It minimizes the
number of wires that must be used in order to install the network,
resulting in lower cost, less downtime, easier maintenance and greater
installation flexibility.
