Louisville Overnite Driver Named to Kentucky Road Team
RICHMOND, Va., May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The Kentucky Motor Truck Association has
named Overnite Transportation's Doug King, a Louisville, Ky., city driver, to
the Kentucky Road Team, an elite group of the state's most accomplished
professional drivers.
Honored by his colleagues and customers as one of the industry's best drivers,
King, a professional driver for more than 25 years, has logged more than 2
million miles of safe driving during his career. In 2004, he was appointed to
Overnite's All-Star Road Team, whose members serve as safety ambassadors for
the company and the entire trucking industry.
Kentucky's Road Team is a public outreach campaign led by a small group of
professional truck drivers with superior driving skills, excellent safety
records and a desire to spread the word about safety on the highways. Kentucky
Road Team Captains meet with fellow drivers, students, safety managers and
industry executives across the Bluegrass State to address transportation issues
and answer questions about the trucking industry's commitment to highway
safety.
"Doug's accomplishments behind the wheel and in his community are a credit to
the company and to truck drivers nationwide," said Overnite Vice President-
Safety Phil Warren. "He is truly one of our best, and we are proud to have him
represent the company on Kentucky's Road Team."
On May 16, UPS (NYSE:UPS) announced a definitive agreement to acquire Overnite
Corporation for $1.25 billion.
Overnite Transportation Company, which provides a complete menu of regional,
interregional and long-haul services, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Overnite
Corporation (NASDAQ:OVNT), which also owns Motor Cargo Industries. Together,
they form one of the largest less-than-truckload carriers in the United States
with more than 200 service centers and a fleet of over 6,000 tractors and more
than 22,000 trailers, covering all 50 states and providing customers with
