Novadigm Customer 7-Eleven Wins InfoWorld 100 Award
Radia(R) Optimizes Uptime of Revenue-Generating Software Services at a Fraction
of the Cost
MAHWAH, N.J., Nov. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Novadigm(R), Inc. , a leading
provider of adaptive software change and configuration management solutions,
today announced that its customer 7-Eleven, Inc. has earned a prestigious
InfoWorld 100 award from IDG's InfoWorld magazine. 7-Eleven was honored for its
use of innovative technology to add business value with its Vcom(R) self-service
financial services kiosks.
"The InfoWorld 100 recognizes companies like 7-Eleven that made the best use of
technology to enhance their businesses," stated Steve Fox, editor-in-chief of
InfoWorld. "7-Eleven built innovative self-service financial services kiosks to
meet critical technical and business objectives."
Vcom(R) is 7-Eleven, Inc.'s initiative to provide consumers with a wide choice
of self-service financial services, including check cashing, money transfers,
and bill payment. Vcom -- short for "virtual commerce" -- is technologically and
commercially unique. It uses a purpose-built and highly adaptable, multimedia
kiosk as a proprietary platform for a panoply of financial and other services,
which can be added, changed, and removed remotely over 7-Eleven's pre-existing
store network.
Essential to success of the Vcom concept was finding a cost-effective means to
deploy and maintain software and multi-media advertising content on the Vcom
devices quickly and reliably. The solution selected was Novadigm's Radia(R)
Management Suite, which automates deployment and ongoing maintenance of
software-based services according to policy, with self-healing capabilities that
ensure systems availability without the high cost of manual update and repair.
Software deployments can be fine-tuned according to store locations and other
business policies, a critical factor for financial services when operations must
vary according to state regulatory requirements. 7-Eleven also uses the Novadigm
management solution to easily access diagnostic data (software logs) on the
machines.
"An important customer touchpoint, Vcom had to be available 24/7 to assure the
program's success," said Keith Morrow, 7-Eleven's CIO and vice president of
Information Systems. "7-Eleven leveraged its existing Novadigm solution already
managing our in-store servers, to ensure rapid, reliable software changes-the
life-blood of the innovative Vcom revenue model. Novadigm's solution fully
automates our software management process. As a result, 7-Eleven optimizes
uptime of revenue-generating Vcom services at a fraction of the cost typically
required to maintain high systems availability."
"We congratulate the 7-Eleven IT team for being honored as an InfoWorld Top 100
IT Visionary of 2003, and we're proud that our Radia software management
solution plays a key role in this award-winning implementation," said George
Kellar, vice president of marketing for Novadigm. "Our customers worldwide
understand the importance of managing the software infrastructure to optimize
security and stability of critical systems that support business needs. They are
among the forward-thinking organizations that exemplify the best of IT today."
Novadigm's Radia Management Suite is a comprehensive software management
solution designed to help companies build adaptive software infrastructures that
can respond in real-time to changing business needs. Unlike traditional software
distribution tools, Radia offers automated change and configuration management
according to policy, and provides continuous self-healing of managed systems to
keep software in its desired state-secure, stable and up-to-date.
