Netsmart Technologies Signs Contract With Beth Israel Medical
Center for $450,000
Netsmart Will Implement Its Avatar Addictions Management Product in All 18
Methadone Clinics in New York City
GREAT RIVER, N.Y., Feb. 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Netsmart Technologies,
Inc. (NASDAQ:NTST), a leading supplier of enterprise-wide software for health
and human services providers through its wholly owned subsidiary, Creative
Socio-Medics Corp.(Creative), today announced that it has been awarded a
contract for $450,000 by Beth Israel Medical Center's Methadone Maintenance
Treatment Program in New York City. The contract includes software licenses
and professional services agreements to install the Avatar AM (addictions
management for methadone) software product in all 18 clinics that are managed
by Beth Israel and is to be performed over a 12-month period.
"We are very excited about the opportunity that Avatar will afford us to tie
our 18 clinics and central office together in one application for the first
time. There is no doubt that it will enable us to be more productive and
efficient in the care we provide our patients," said Charles Jacknow, Assistant
Director of Beth Israel Medical Center's Methadone Maintenance Treatment
Program.
The Beth Israel Medical Center operates 18 methadone maintenance treatment
clinics that together serve 6,000 heroin-addicted patients. Located throughout
Manhattan and Brooklyn, the clinics deliver an interdisciplinary mix of
services to patients. These services include basic medical care, counseling,
vocational services, and health education. The clinics are financed by a blend
of state and federal funding and patient fees. Clinics are all licensed by the
DEA, the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment, and the New York State Office of
Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services. Additionally, they are accredited by
JCAHO. The Beth Israel network of clinics is the oldest, and by far the largest
methadone maintenance treatment system in the country. Beth Israel provides 15%
of all methadone treatment in New York State.
"We appreciate being part of the distinguished operation at Beth Israel. This
was a competitive bid against other large software suppliers and we believe
that the selection of our product solutions indicates that they are best suited
to the needs of the medical center," said James H. Gargiulo, Senior Vice
President of Creative.
