Two NetScreen SSL VPN Customers Honored by InfoWorld
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- NetScreen Technologies,
Inc. today announced that two of its SSL VPN customers have earned coveted 2003
InfoWorld 100 Awards.
"The InfoWorld 100 recognizes companies like Iron Mountain and Lancaster General
that made the best use of technology to enhance their businesses," stated Steve
Fox, editor-in-chief of InfoWorld. "Iron Mountain and Lancaster General built
innovative SSL VPN networks to meet critical technical and business
objectives."
Iron Mountain, a global business specializing in records and information
management services, implemented NetScreen's Neoteris Secure Access Appliances
to enable its employees to securely access network resources remotely.
"Because we handle large volumes of information for our customers, we need a
solution that allows our users to have easy and secure remote access to our
network," said Peter Ridgley, principal network engineer at Iron Mountain. "Our
specific challenge is that our remote user pool has grown significantly over the
past three years due to significant acquisition activity, and our initial VPN
system wasn't meeting our needs. NetScreen's SSL VPN solution has enabled us to
effectively provide corporate network access to new users from anywhere without
client-side VPN application requirements. We've realized substantial savings in
IT costs compared to using legacy, client-based solutions."
Lancaster General deployed a NetScreen-SA 3000 Series to enable authorized users
in its 25 organizations, including the Medical Group, the Women & Babies
Hospital, and the College of Nursing and Health Sciences hospitals, to access
clinical systems, rounds lists, and monitor patient test results 24 hours a day,
seven days a week.
"Because NetScreen's SSL-based secure access VPN solution eliminates client-side
management -- often required for alternate VPN approaches -- it is an offering
that is well suited to our environment which requires support for multiple
remote constituents, including doctors, administrators, and consultants," said
Terry Grogan, director of Operations and Technical Services at Lancaster
General. "Since we replaced our previous remote access solution with the
NetScreen-SA 3000 product, we have reduced network complexity and significantly
lowered our IT costs."
"More than 650 enterprises are reaping the benefits of our SSL VPN secure access
solutions, and it's gratifying to see two of them recognized for their business
achievement and meeting their enterprise goals," said Jason Matlof, vice
president of marketing for NetScreen's secure access products.
