Clarus Systems Joins Micromuse Alliance Program(TM)
Integrated Solution to Help Reduce Costs Associated With Certification, Testing
and Monitoring of IP Telephony Networks
SAN FRANCISCO, April 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Clarus Systems, Inc. today announced
it has joined the Micromuse Alliance Program(TM), to help simplify and
consolidate network and Internet Protocol Telephony management and reduce
operational costs of the merged network. The partnership between Clarus and
Micromuse will offer an integrated solution that can certify the availability
and performance of telephones across IP Telephony deployments, test the
end-user's communication experience, and monitor underlying network resources.
"While the cost of IP Telephony deployments has come down, the cost of
continued management and maintenance is still a big hurdle to ongoing success,"
said Stephen Elliot, a senior analyst at IDC. "Companies are looking to reduce
the complexity of merged networks and save money. Partnerships such as the one
between Clarus and Micromuse address both issues."
The combination of ClarusIPC(TM) Assurance with Micromuse's Netcool(R) suite
will offer a comprehensive IP communications management system. ClarusIPC
Assurance assesses the phone system during an IP Telephony deployment, managing
IP telephones independently from the network and verifying voice quality and
end-user experience. The Netcool suite monitors the network availability and
performance providing a single view of IP Telephony and data services on large
and complex networks.
"The value of a solid IP communications platform is priceless, but companies
may underestimate their network management requirements," said Darin Layman,
Vice President of Alliances at Micromuse. "Enterprises need to identify each
piece of hardware -- be it a phone, server, router, or printer -- on the IP
communications platform as a device on the network and manage it efficiently.
Our partnership with Clarus provides our mutual customers an integrated
offering to help them cost-effectively manage IP networks and services while
simplifying the deployment and management of IP telephony."
"From an IP communications platform standpoint, the partnership provides
companies with a manageable and cost-effective solution," said Richard
Whitehead, chief technology officer, Clarus Systems. "Our partnership with
Micromuse enables us to offer our mutual customers an integrated solution that
provides greater control and manageability for IP Telephony environments."
