Micromuse (Nasdaq: MUSE), the leading provider of
ultra-scalable, realtime business and service assurance software,
today announced that its Netcool(R) solutions' support for managing
the Sun Solaris(TM) 10 Operating System (OS) will be extended to the
Sun x64 platform, expanding its existing support for the Solaris 10 OS
on SPARC(R) processor-based systems. The added support allows Sun and
Micromuse to collaboratively deliver solutions which leverage the
unique features of the Solaris 10 OS and Micromuse's end-to-end
service management. Customers will also realize the benefits of this
collaboration through solutions such as consolidation, grid computing
and business service management. Micromuse will include support for
the Solaris 10 OS on x64 platforms with its System Service Monitor and
Application Service Monitor modules, in addition to the support
already offered for the Solaris 10 OS on SPARC-based systems.
"The availability of Micromuse service management capabilities for
Solaris 10 OS customers will help them harness the significant
increases in capacity and performance provided by the Solaris 10
OS-powered infrastructure and further optimize their IT environment,"
said Stephen Borcich, Vice President of Partner Marketing, Sun
Microsystems. "Micromuse will help our customers to increase the price
and performance benefits they derive from their Sun investment."
"We are thrilled to continue growing our relationship with Sun by
enabling broad support for the Solaris 10 OS, which is a vital
operating system for many of our joint customers, as well as a key
development platform for Micromuse," said Craig Farrell, Micromuse
CTO. "The integration of the Solaris 10 OS and Netcool solutions
provides customers the ability to easily consolidate management
consoles and view the status of their infrastructure end-to-end,
increasing the business value of their IT deployments."
Sun Microsystems' Professional Services group is reselling,
integrating and supporting Micromuse's Netcool solutions. Micromuse is
also member of several high-profile Sun software initiatives,
including Micromuse Netcool's integration with the Sun(TM) Management
Center software; the SunTone(TM) Certification & Branding Program for
telecommunications providers; and the Sun Developer Connection(SM)
program. In addition, Micromuse's Netcool Software Suite is a core
component of the Sun Java(TM) System Messaging Internet Data Center
Reference Architecture launched in May 2002 -- the first solution that
can support up to one million users with no single point of failure.
ISP and Enterprise customers are able to get to market with their
Internet messaging services faster and with greater confidence with
this architecture driven solution that will fit their workload and
performance needs now, and as their business grows.
