MTM Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: MTMCD), a leading national provider of
innovative IT solutions and services to Global 2000 and mid-size
companies, today announced the successful completion of a Cisco®
IP-based unified communications solution for St. Helena Unified School
District (SHUSD), located in Napa County California, that provides
voice, video, mobility and presence services to more than 1,500 K-12
students, their families, and 250 district employees.
“To say we are excited about what our new
solution will enable us to do is an understatement,”
said SHUSD Superintendent Allan Gordon. “We no
longer have to worry about when our system will go down next or how long
it will take to restore. And that says nothing of the many new
communication, collaboration, and cost-savings advantages we now have
throughout the district.”
Working closely with SHUSD to evaluate its aging phone system and
ultimate goals, MTM Technologies implemented a Cisco Power over Ethernet
(PoE) solution that provides power and data connectivity over the IP
infrastructure. To address the school district’s
core communication issues, MTM Technologies deployed Cisco Unified
Communications Manager, the powerful call-processing component of the
Cisco Unified Communications solution that provides voice, video,
mobility, and presence services. In addition, MTM-a Cisco Gold Partner -
added Cisco Unity, a full-featured voice and unified messaging platform
empowering users to access e-mail, voice, and fax messages from a single
inbox anytime, anywhere, and on any device.
The deployment provides more reliable communication and improved safety
with more than 150 Cisco 7900 Series IP phones available throughout the
school district, empowering everyone from teachers to administrators to
take full advantage of SHUSD’s new converged
voice and data network from their desks. Messages on note paper are a
thing of the past as the systems’ new
voicemail capabilities are expected to provide significant improvements
in communication and productivity.
“We were very pleased to get the call from
Superintendent Gordon to work with him again on another key project,
this time in support of his goal of fostering ‘world-class
schools’ and leading by example as a showcase
district in the Small School Districts’
Association of California,” said Steve
Stringer, President and Chief Operating Officer, MTM Technologies. “Our
advanced Cisco certification specialization in unified communications
and significant education-industry experience enabled us to quickly
evaluate their challenges, base our design on current and future needs,
and implement a solution that delivered outstanding communication
reliability, functionality, and administration to help St. Helena
achieve its goal of fostering ‘world-class
schools’.”
SHUSD is eager to use its new robust infrastructure to deploy additional
advanced solutions, including wireless connectivity throughout the
school district and IP-based video surveillance. “The
possibilities are almost limitless with this platform,”
noted Steven McElroy, Network Specialist at St. Helena Unified School
District.
