MRO Software (Nasdaq: MROI), the leading provider of
asset and service management solutions, today announced the
availability of an enhanced asset and service management solution for
the transportation industry, Maximo Transportation.
The latest Transportation solution is delivered on the Maximo
Enterprise Suite (MXES) platform and is an extension of the Company's
asset and service management solution, providing special capabilities
targeted to the transportation industry. This version adds key
capabilities that address specific transportation industry
requirements. These include modules for automated alerts, fleet asset
information, campaigns, escalations, fuel management, industry codes,
inventory enhancements, labor certification, meter history &
adjustments, motor pool, warranty recovery and workflow.
Transportation users can leverage key components of the MXES platform
such as Service Level Agreements, Incident & Problem Management,
Change and Configuration Management and Contract Management. These are
key features to improve the alignment of asset and service management
with the business.
The additional features of Maximo Transportation now allow
organizations with significant transportation fleets or infrastructure
to consolidate asset and service management for production,
facilities, linear and IT assets onto a single platform.
Maximo Transportation, launched originally in the summer of 2003,
is part of MRO Software's Industry Solutions program. This program
delivers solutions developed on the Company's proven, web architected
platform that address industry specific requirements for its key
vertical markets. The flexibility provided by the MXES platform
delivers a significant cost savings over older, capital-intensive
systems and provides the flexibility, security and scalability
required for these industries. MXES' flexible, service-oriented
architecture allows it to interface with other enterprise applications
providing a comprehensive view of asset management.
"After a thorough evaluation we selected the Maximo Transportation
solution because of the Internet architecture, the solution's ability
to integrate with our future ERP systems, the deep transportation
functionality and MRO Software's commitment to the transportation
industry," said Robin Cody, department manager, Information
Technology, San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART). "As one of
the nation's largest rapid transit systems, managing 103 miles of
railways in four counties and more than 660 rail vehicles, having an
Internet architecture was critical to deploying a cost effective asset
management solution across a large metropolitan area."
This latest version of Maximo Transportation includes added
functionality and can be used by existing Maximo customers that want
to add the capability to manage fleets or other transportation assets.
"Asset management requirements for the transportation market
historically were a niche segment because of the functional footprint
required. Maximo Transportation, with its extensive list of
transportation functionality enhancements has allowed us to bridge
that gap. Customers no longer need to buy a separate solution for
transportation assets, but can leverage the enterprise platform for
managing critical assets," said Johan Arts, vice president, industry
marketing, MRO Software. "With Maximo Transportation, MRO Software is
delivering one of the key components of its vision of Asset & Service
Management. The transportation users get a deep functional footprint
while the IT department can implement a modern platform based on a
Service Oriented Architecture."
MRO Software currently provides asset and service management
solutions for multiple segments of the transportation industry. More
than 450 of the industries most-progressive transportation companies,
including more than 175 fleet and 100 rail and transit customers, are
currently using Maximo solutions. Transportation customers worldwide
have seen improved operational efficiency as a result of Maximo
implementations. These improvements include greater warranty recovery,
improved compliance capabilities, the ability to manage more assets
with less staff, reduced inventories and a reduction in the number of
capital assets required to meet operations schedules. MXES can be
deployed on virtually any mobile device providing functionality
wherever it's needed. For more information on Maximo Transportation
