Logic to Co-Host Hands-On Tutorial Session at Design Automation Conference
Joint Tutorial Session at 2005 DAC Features Designing Extendable Cores With
Low-Cost Metal Programmable Technology
Calif., May 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Four leading technology companies,
CoWare(R) Inc., Magma(R) Design Automation Inc. (NASDAQ:LAVA), MIPS
Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ:MIPS), and Virage Logic Corporation (NASDAQ:VIRL)
have joined to lead a hands-on tutorial as part of the System-Level Design and
Verification track at the 2005 Design Automation Conference (DAC). The tutorial
session will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at the Anaheim Convention
Center, Room 211AB, from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.
Attendees will observe a complete system-level design process, starting from
exploring the system architecture and trading-off hardware and system software
partitioning. They will derive CorExtend(TM) User Defined Instructions to
extend the instruction set of the MIPS32(R) 24K(R) core using CoWare's
CORXpert(TM). The resulting RTL block can be taken all the way through GDSII
with Magma's Blast Create(TM) and Blast Fusion(R) IC implementation flow. The
CorExtend block helps the resulting extended MIPS(R) core to better perform
application-specific tasks. The use of Virage Logic's metal programmable cell
library for the implementation enables different CorExtend instructions
targeting different applications to be implemented with fast turn around time
and lower manufacturing cost using metal only changes.
Aimed at ASIC/SoC designers, system architects, system platform designers and
SoC design engineers needing the latest information on design tools and IP,
this hands-on tutorial experience demonstrates an integrated solution offering
custom ASIC optimization -- with platform SoC savings -- that enables fast
design turn around time with metal only changes. This solution features:
-- CoWare's system-level design to explore extensions of the MIPS32(R) 24K(R)
Pro microprocessor core through application optimized instructions
-- Magma Design Automation's Unified Implementation Design Flow that seamlessly
handles standard cell and structured ASIC designs on the same chip
-- MIPS Technologies' high-performance MIPS32(R) 24K(R) Pro microprocessor
featuring CorExtend(TM) user defined instructions
-- Virage Logic's ASAP Logic(TM) Metal Programmable cell library enabling
extensive and rapid changes with only metal mask changes
Registration cost for the hands-on tutorial session is $75.00 per person and
seating is very limited. To register for the tutorial, please go to
