Methode Electronics, Inc. (Nasdaq: METH) congratulates its
Chairman, Warren L. Batts, on being named Director of the Year by the
National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD). Mr. Batts has been a
director with Methode Electronics, Inc. since 2001 and Chairman since
2004.
“Director of the Year”
is NACD’s most prestigious award, presented to
the person who, after significant review by a committee of peers, is
deemed to meet their designated criteria. Mr. Batts was awarded this
honor on October 16, 2006 in Washington D.C.
NACD seeks to recognize a director who possesses an excellent leadership
reputation, especially in governance and ethics, and is recognized by
peers and the business community as a role model in promoting high
professional standards for board and director performance. In addition,
the committee looks for directors who adhere to NACD recommendations and
serve as a mentor to current and aspiring directors.
Donald W. Duda, President and Chief Executive Officer of Methode
Electronics stated, “We are privileged to have
Warren on our board of directors. His presence on the board and
appointment as Chairman was a major reason Methode was able to attract
additional qualified independent directors, credentialed in finance,
law, business and engineering.”
Mr. Batts is the retired Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of
Tupperware Corporation. In 1997, Mr. Batts retired as Chairman of
Premark International, Inc., where he also served as Chief Executive
Officer from 1986 until 1996. He recently retired from the boards of
Allstate, Cooper Industries, Sears, and Sprint. He has also served as
the following: a director and the Chairman of Chicago Children’s
Memorial Medical Center; a life trustee for the Art Institute of
Chicago; a director and the Chairman of the National Association of
Manufacturers; and a director of the NACD.
Since 1998, Mr. Batts has taught as an Adjunct Professor of Strategic
Management at the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. Mr.
Batts received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute
of Technology in 1961 and M.B.A. with Distinction from the Harvard
School of Business Administration in 1963.
