- Unveils Major New Version of Mercury Business Availability Center LAS VEGAS, Oct. 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Today at Mercury World 2005, Mercury Interactive Corporation (NASDAQ:MERQE), the global leader in business technology optimization (BTO) software, announced Mercury Business Availability Center(TM) 6.0, a strategic part of Mercury BTO Enterprise(TM). This major new version of Mercury's application management optimization center helps customers manage applications from a business perspective, understand end-user experience, manage service levels, and map dependencies between applications and their supporting infrastructure. "Mercury understands that users experience applications, not infrastructure," said Robin Purohit, vice president of application management products at Mercury. "The new version of Mercury Business Availability Center enables customers to leverage end user management and application mapping integrations to get more control and visibility over business-critical production applications. Our new offerings also help IT service management teams identify and resolve problems in production before they impact business results." Mercury Business Availability Center 6.0 is comprised of a new and enhanced set of Mercury application modules, a real-time business dashboard and an enterprise foundation. The software modules in Mercury Business Availability Center include Mercury End User Management(TM), Mercury Service Level Management(TM), Mercury Application Mapping(TM), and Mercury Diagnostics(TM). New features and enhancements in Mercury Business Availability Center 6.0 include: * Updated real-time business dashboard provides up-to-date business service configuration and active drill down to application components; * New service-level manager wizard configures business and operational service level agreements (SLAs) for business service configuration; * New outage management capabilities helps to accurately factor scheduled maintenance into SLA reporting; * Enhanced end-to-end transaction tracing for composite applications helps break down transactions across multi-application J2EE and J2EE-to-SAP environments and correlate to end-user monitoring; * Enhanced real-user monitoring capabilities helps provide deep visibility into real-user behavior by identifying and isolating problems, helps set baselines and measure service levels, and captures error scenarios and workload for Mercury LoadRunner(R) test scripts; and * Enhanced change monitoring capabilities for business services can automatically detect hardware and software changes and help identify and resolve problems caused by unplanned changes. "A focus on knowledge relating to the supporting applications is key for companies seeking to ensure optimal business performance and continuity," said Cameron Haight, research vice president at Gartner, Inc. "With today's increasingly complex component- and service-oriented application infrastructures, the accuracy of this information is highly dependent upon the level of coordination across the primary stakeholders including business owners, application development, quality assurance, and IT operations." Mercury Business Availability Center 6.0 is planned for release in November 2005 and will be delivered as an in-house deployment or through Mercury Managed Services(TM).
