- Mercury Diagnostics Profiler Now Exclusively Bundled with New Versions of BEA WebLogic and JRockit BEIJING and MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Dec. 8 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BEAWORLD 2005 -- BEA Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:BEAS), a world leader in enterprise infrastructure software, and Mercury Interactive Corporation (NASDAQ:MERQE), the global leader in business technology optimization (BTO) software, today announced a strategic alliance to help customers deliver more consistent, predictable and measurable business outcomes from SOA initiatives. Mercury and BEA will provide customers using WebLogic and JRockit(R) with industry leading diagnostic products for solving application performance issues and detecting memory leaks in mission critical applications. With this integrated offering, BEA customers will receive out-of-the-box performance diagnostics capabilities in their development environment. Mercury and BEA signed a cross-licensing agreement and plan to exclusively bundle Mercury Diagnostics Profiler(TM) with new versions of JRockit and BEA WebLogic Server, and distribute BEA's JRockit Mission Control diagnostic toolset to Mercury Diagnostics(TM) customers. In addition, BEA will also use Mercury Application Management and Application Delivery offerings, such as Mercury Diagnostics and Mercury LoadRunner(R), as the preferred performance management solution of choice for support, critical situations and proofs of concept. "The combination of BEA WebLogic and Mercury application delivery and application management products provides a single, shared performance management solution for developers, architects, quality assurance and IT operations teams," said Sri Muthu, VP of Investment Technology at Wells Fargo. "This integrated solution from Mercury and BEA will make it easier for Wells Fargo to identify and resolve problems during the software development lifecycle before they impact business results." Mercury Diagnostics(TM) provides a top-down, lifecycle approach to seamlessly manage, monitor, diagnose and resolve critical problems across the application lifecycle. This enables users to start with the end-user business process, then drill down into application components and system layers to pinpoint performance bottlenecks. By leveraging Mercury's lifecycle performance management offerings, BEA customers can deploy with confidence and accelerate problem resolution in pre-production or post production. JRockit Mission Control is a suite of diagnostic tools specifically designed to give customers deeper access into the WebLogic stack in order to monitor, manage, profile and detect memory leaks and performance issues that can occur during development. In combination with Mercury Diagnostics and Mercury Diagnostics Profiler, IT managers will be able to detect and resolve performance problems earlier in the application lifecycle. "This alliance improves our mutual customers' ability to rapidly resolve application problems that have the greatest business impact," said Yuval Scarlat, senior vice president of products at Mercury. "Now Mercury and BEA customers will have an integrated lifecycle solution to deliver high quality applications that perform to meet the needs of the business." "Enabling the free flow of information, business processes and services within and across businesses is key to optimizing enterprise productivity, and the cornerstone of our Vision," said Wai Wong, executive vice president of products at BEA Systems. "We're pleased to partner with Mercury to provide joint customers with a solution that helps them significantly improve the performance and reliability of their applications as well as further advance their SOA initiatives" "Our alliance with Mercury will enable users of the WebLogic platform and Mercury products to better manage and optimize mission critical applications," said Guy Churchward, general manager of the Java Runtime Products Group for BEA Systems. "There's no reason for customers to wait for problems to arise before they fix them. With the powerful combination of JRockit and Mercury diagnostic products, customers will detect those problems earlier and resolve them more quickly, enabling a faster time to market and a lower total cost of ownership." Availability BEA is currently offering the Mercury Diagnostics Profiler with BEA WebLogic Sever 9,0 and JRockit JVM downloads at no additional cost. Mercury will begin shipping BEA's Mission Control Suite as part of their Mercury Diagnostics offering in the first quarter of next year.
