MAF Bancorp Declares Quarterly Cash Dividend 


CLARENDON HILLS, Ill., April 28  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- MAF Bancorp, Inc. ,
announced today that its Board of Directors has declared a quarterly cash
dividend of $.21 per common share.  The dividend will be payable on July 2,
2004 to shareholders of record on June 14, 2004.

MAF Bancorp is the parent company of Mid America Bank, a federally chartered
stock savings bank.  The Bank operates a network of 67 retail banking offices
throughout Chicago and Milwaukee and their surrounding areas. Offices in the
Milwaukee area operate under the name "St. Francis Bank, a division of Mid
America Bank."  The Company's common stock trades on the Nasdaq Stock Market
under the symbol MAFB.
