Larscom's eLink IAD Automates Configuration and Provisioning - Offers Carriers
an OpEx Savings of Up to 80%
New Larscom IAD Helps Service Providers Eliminate Truck Rolls, Reduce Install
Time, and Speed Service Activation of Bundled Voice and Data Services
NEWARK, Calif., Feb. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Responding to the service
provider requirement for faster and easier activation of voice and data
customers, Larscom today announced it has released a new version of its leading
eLink Integrated Access Device (IAD) for delivering bundled voice, data, and
Internet access over a single network connection. The new eLink-400 features
unique AutoCAP(TM) (automated installation, configuration, and provisioning)
functionality that has the power to eliminate truck rolls when activating new
customers and, as a result, can save service providers as much as 80%(1) in
operational expenditures (OpEx).
Designed for carriers offering bundled services to small and medium-sized
businesses (SMB) and branch offices, the new eLink-400 provides a
single-platform, all-in-one network solution that includes a CSU/DSU for line
termination, a DHCP server for address management, a firewall for LAN security,
and an IP router. The eLink-400 simplifies the integrationof voice, data, and
Internet access over a single T1 network interface. A true plug-and-play
solution, the eLink-400 with its unique AutoCAP functionality can automatically
detect and/or set all system parameters, thereby eliminating the need to
provision and configure the IAD at the customer premise.
"The eLink-400 is a breakthrough in terms of delivering OpEx savings to
providers engaged in offering bundled voice and data services," said Gurdip
Jande, vice president of marketing at Larscom Incorporated. "The eLink-400
extends our popular eLink-300 platform with the addition of the new AutoCAP
feature. We believe the level of automation achieved with AutoCAP and the eLink
platform will set-the-bar for the access industry in terms of easy-to-use and
economical customer premise equipment serving the SMB market."
Integrated Access
The integrated access market continues to grow thanks to the increasing
prosperity of small businesses. Previously, small businesses implemented voice
and data services with separate lines that required multiple additional network
elements. This duplication led to increased capital expenditures and service
fees; and also created unnecessary operational challenges for the business and
service provider. Now IADs, including the Larscom eLink-400, integrate these
services into one compact device to give businesses a comprehensive networking
solution for both voice and data over a single line.
The eLink-400 is generally available and offers the following features and
benefits:
-- Up to 24 analog voice ports to support a wide range of business needs;
-- Delivers full line-rate T1 performance and advanced call handling,
caller ID pass-through, distinctive ringing, and multi-line phones;
-- Scalable ePorts(TM) functionality that allows carriers to purchase only
the ports they need now and easily activate additional ports as the
business grows;
-- Simplified network management with options including SNMP, Telnet, web
interface, and local craft access;
-- The eLink platform will be upgradeable to next generation IAD
capabilities including Voice over IP (VoIP) and advanced security
options.
