A major warming trend hit Chicago this morning as Jamba Juice unveiled
its new Steel Cut Oatmeal with Fruit during a citywide oatmeal run to
serve breakfast to the tireless workers of Chicago’s non-profit
community. With the goal of recognizing those who work to benefit the
lives of others, today’s special deliveries to local non-profits mark
the debut of Jamba’s natural and delicious oatmeal at all Chicago-area
locations. Served with real fruit and brown sugar crumble, the slow
cooked organic steel cut oats offer Chicagoans a nutritious and
wholesome way to beat the cold.
This morning’s oatmeal launch also kicks off a local celebration of the
urban phenomenon “knitfiti” featuring guerilla knitting artists who will
warm up the store with a colorful and cozy knitted interior. The one of
a kind live installation will take place at Jamba Juice located at 20 N.
Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL—and is a teaser to a much larger “knitfiti”
experience and installation to take place for the national oatmeal
launch on January 15, 2009. A fun and civic-minded take on graffiti,
“knitfiti” is a burgeoning underground movement in which guerilla
artists hit public property with handmade knitwear rather than markers
and spray paint, warming and beautifying the space.
“The non-profit community plays a vital and often unrecognized role in
helping those in need during the holiday season and we wanted to express
our great appreciation for their efforts with this small gesture,” said
James D. White, newly appointed CEO at Jamba Juice. “These staffers do
truly fantastic work under demanding circumstances and we hope this
oatmeal breakfast brings a boost to their day and draws attention to
their service within the broader community.”
Taking a full 40 minutes to prepare, but available to customers
immediately, Jamba’s Steel Cut Oatmeal with Fruit offers customers a
flavorful and nutritious way to get going on cold winter mornings with
‘slow food served fast.’ With improved texture and flavor versus rolled
oats, steel cut oats are a good source of protein and fiber and keep
breakfasters feeling fuller longer. Completed with a real fruit topping,
Jamba’s oatmeal offers a nutritious and satisfying way to start the
morning—for people on the go, it’s the end of instant when it comes to
their oatmeal.
“Knitfiti” artists and knitters in the Chicago community will be on hand
at the Jamba Juice location at 20 N. Michigan Ave. on Thursday December
18th 7 AM to 7 PM. For families looking to check out the
“knitfiti” decorations, the display will stay up through the holiday
season.
