Duty Free Selects JDA Software’s Merchandising and Category Management Solutions

(NASDAQ: JDAS) today announced that Duty Free Philippines, the country’s state-owned, duty-free retailer exclusive to travelers, has selected JDA’s industry-leading Merchandising and Category Management solution suites to help achieve precision merchandising, maximize sales and profitably satisfy consumer demand.

Committed to meeting the shopping needs of local and international travelers, the $190 million retailer sells perfume, jewelry, liquor, tobacco, confectionary, cosmetics, electronic goods and other imported merchandise in its eight on-airport and off-airport locations throughout the Philippines. More akin to department stores, Duty Free’s off-airport locations are also stocked with imported merchandise ranging from breakfast cereal to large household appliances and are mainly targeted at returning overseas Filipino workers.

With the implementation of JDA® Merchandise Management System (MMS) 10 years ago, Duty Free Philippines has been able to achieve excellent performance across sales channels, provide visibility into inventory position, as well as drive sales, margins and cash flow. The retailer’s expansion initiatives in the past year have prompted the implementation of additional licenses and upgrades of MMS to help optimize inventory across channels, to stay connected to core customers, as well as to help achieve continued success in this dynamic retail environment.
