Historical Stock Chart
From Jan 2020 to Jan 2025
Internet Security Systems, Inc. (ISS) (NASDAQ: ISSX),
the worldwide leader in preemptive, enterprise security, today
announced an alliance with BitDefender(R), an award-winning provider
of antivirus software and data security solutions, to integrate new
antivirus and anti-spyware features into the ISS Proventia(R) Desktop
Endpoint Security product. The new features will complement the
patented, behavioral-based ISS Virus Prevention System (VPS), already
a key component of the company's desktop protection offering.
"Our unique VPS technology provides unprecedented protection
against unknown zero-day malcode by recognizing malicious behavior and
blocking it accordingly," said Greg Adams, Vice President, Product
Development at Internet Security Systems. "While behavioral-based
technologies such as VPS are extremely powerful for stopping unknown
threats, ISS recognizes that organizations also use antivirus and
anti-spyware solutions for scanning and removing known malware. By
integrating BitDefender's antivirus and anti-spyware capabilities into
our desktop product, we are offering our customers a comprehensive
solution for handling both known exploits and unidentified malware."
"Virus writers, scam artists and crooked online marketers are
becoming increasingly adept at getting around some of the mainstream
security software applications offered in the market," commented Eric
Lewis, BitDefender's Managing Director, North America. "BitDefender's
proven antivirus and anti-spyware solutions offer ISS customers new
layers of security that the more established brands simply can't
match."
"We are confident that the addition of these new capabilities will
help increase our sales of ISS Proventia Desktop," said Jared Hornsby,
executive vice president at Future Com, Ltd., an ISS partner
organization. "With the growing complexity of today's security
landscape and the exponential growth of new online threats, our
customers continue to seek the simplest, most cost-effective solutions
to their problems. The concept of having comprehensive, multi-layered
security technologies together in one agent will indeed appeal to many
of them."
According to Gartner's Neil MacDonald, "No single style of
host-based intrusion prevention provides sufficient protection. By
using multiple styles of protection, you can create, overall, a more
effective host-based intrusion prevention system strategy appropriate
to your needs."(1)
ISS Proventia Desktop with integrated antivirus and anti-spyware
features will be available early 2007. Antivirus and anti-spyware
content updates will be made available via annual subscription.
