From May 2019 to May 2024
IONA® Technologies (NASDAQ: IONA), a world
leader in distributed service-oriented architecture (SOA) infrastructure
solutions for performance-demanding IT environments, today announced a
collaboration with Aepona, the leading supplier of telecom service layer
products and solutions to telecoms globally, to extend Aepona’s
Universal Service Platform (USP) to enable customers to integrate their
intelligent networks with their business and operational support systems
(BSS/OSS).
Aepona’s USP family of products, which
utilizes IONA’s Artix™
family of SOA infrastructure products (see
press release), offers customers a Service Delivery Platform to
support the rapid roll-out of new Telco 2.0 services across any network.
IONA’s solution has allowed Aepona to extend
its USP to enable customers to seamlessly integrate their back-end
business and Operational Support Systems with their intelligent network
layers. A leading European telecommunications company is using the
technology to seamlessly route data between its intelligent network
applications and their billing applications. By extending Aepona’s
USP, customers can reduce the costs and time associated with bringing
new intelligent network services to market.
“IONA understands the demands of the
telecommunications marketplace better than any other integration vendor,
they have the expertise from several years of delivering integration
solutions that comply with the rapidly changing service demands and
technology standards of the telecommunications sector,”
said Liam McQuillan, Aepona’s Senior Vice
President of Engineering. “We chose IONA’s
Artix as a crucial piece of technology for our USP and continue to
select them where we need to bridge back-office support applications to
modern service delivery platforms. Working with IONA we can continue to
deliver the high levels of interoperability and performance our
customers demand.”
Aepona’s Telecom Web Services Platform, a
member of the USP family, recently won the GSMA award for Best Service
Delivery Platform at the 2008 Global Mobile Awards. Artix provides
critical, standards-based, SOA-enablement capabilities for Aepona’s
product which allows telecoms operators to securely publish their
network capabilities (communications, information, intelligence) to the
outside world as standards-based Web Services.
“Telecoms Operators are under constant
competitive pressure to deliver more services at lower costs and keep
pace with customer demand for combined voice, video and data offerings,”
said Peter Zotto, CEO, IONA Technologies. “Aepona’s
USP, powered by Artix, is fast becoming the Service Delivery Platform of
choice for leading global telecommunications companies and we look
forward to continuing to work with Aepona to deliver award winning
solutions to their customers.”
