Hawaiian Telcom Selects InPhonic Wireless Solutions for the Aloha
State
- New Telcom Selects InPhonic to Deliver Full Range of Wireless Solutions -
WASHINGTON, and HONOLULU, May 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- InPhonic Inc.
(NASDAQ:INPC), a leading online seller of wireless services and products, today
announced an agreement with Hawaiian Telcom, Hawaii's largest
telecommunications provider, to provide operational systems to support the
launch of its wireless voice and data services to customers across the State of
Hawaii. Hawaiian Telcom, previously known as Verizon Hawaii, was recently
acquired by Washington, D.C.-based private equity firm The Carlyle Group from
Verizon Communications, for $1.6 billion.
Through its Mobile Virtual Network Enablement (MVNE) services, InPhonic will
enable Hawaiian Telcom to rapidly deploy wireless voice and data services
capabilities statewide, which will be critical as Hawaiian Telcom builds its
customer base to gain market share in Hawaii's highly competitive wireless
market. InPhonic's experience in delivering systems platforms for procurement,
activation, billing, and self-service platforms based on web and speech
recognition technology, will be instrumental in executing Hawaiian Telcom's
vision for wireless services.
"We are very excited that Hawaiian Telcom selected InPhonic for its wireless
solutions," said InPhonic's Chairman and CEO, David A. Steinberg. "Our
relationship with Hawaiian Telcom demonstrates the strength of InPhonic's MVNE
platform to deliver next-generation end-to-end wireless solutions for expansive
customer markets and large enterprises."
"Access to these capabilities allows us to be more agile and nimble. Selecting
a company with an excellent track record for rapid mobile carrier deployment
allows Hawaiian Telcom to move forward quickly," said Michael S. Ruley,
Hawaiian Telcom's chief executive officer.
InPhonic will provide web-enabled technologies for both Internet and in- store
support to enable immediate risk assessment, provisioning, handset activation,
account creation and customer care at Hawaiian Telcom's retail stores, dealers
and call centers. InPhonic's CEO David A. Steinberg continued, "InPhonic
continues to capitalize on the investments we have made in our MVNE platform
over the last six months. We believe these investments in our technology
platform should yield continued improvements in our operating margins in the
second quarter and beyond as the business scales."
