IVECO Chooses IMPCO's Eclipse Engine Management System
CERRITOS, Calif., Dec. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- IMPCO Technologies, Inc.
(NASDAQ:IMCO) announced today the signing of an agreement with IVECO Motors of
North America that establishes IMPCO's Eclipse Heavy Duty Engine Management
System as the fueling system of choice for IVECO's industrial stationary
electrical generator sets (gen-set) to meet EPA Tier III emissions
certification standards for domestic use. Production is scheduled to begin in
November 2005.
Under the terms of the agreement, IMPCO will develop a natural gas fueling
system specifically for the IVECO New Engine Family (NEF) product line.
Currently IVECO offers a gaseous fuel 5.9L version of this engine and where
practical, content from their product line will be incorporated into the IMPCO
Eclipse system, ensuring emissions compliance and cost effectiveness.
The Eclipse Heavy Duty Engine Management system comprehensively integrates full
authority fuel and spark controls technology to meet domestic and international
safety and emissions regulations. It offers an array of fuel metering
technologies designed in a building block approach to closely match customer
performance requirements and emissions standards. The system allows internal
combustion engines to use clean burning gaseous fuels and meets emissions
regulations including EPA Tier III.
The Heavy-Duty Engine market consists of projected production of over 1.3M
engines for 2004. This volume accounts for, Marine, Locomotive, Off Highway,
Industrial, Agricultural, Gen-Sets and On-Highway applications. The gen-set
application represents, 2% of this potential market for North America.
Regarding IVECO Motors of North America:
IVECO, as part of the Fiat group, recently began operations in Carol Stream,
Illinois, to deliver service throughout Canada, Mexico and the United States.
Their NEF Series, diesel engines are now available in North America as 3-, 4-
and 6-cylinder models that can be specified to meet any application in the
industrial, marine and power generation industries.
