Government Properties Trust Adds Spencer I. Browne to Board of Directors 


OMAHA, Neb., March 11  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Government Properties Trust,
Inc. , a self-managed, self-administered company that will elect to be taxed as
a real estate investment trust, today announced that Spencer I. Browne has been
elected to its Board of Directors.

Browne is a Principal of Strategic Asset Management, LLC, a privately owned
investment firm that he founded in 1996.  He also currently serves as a Director
of Annaly Mortgage Management (NYSE:NLY), Delta Financial Corporation
(AMEX:DFC), Internet Commerce Corporation (NASDAQ:ICCA) and Kronos Advanced
Technologies, Inc. (OTC:KNOS) (BULLETIN BOARD: KNOS) .  Browne has held various
executive and management positions with several publicly traded companies
engaged in businesses related to the residential and commercial mortgage loan
industry.  From August 1988 until September 1996, Browne served as President,
Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Asset Investors Corporation (AIC), a
company he co-founded in 1986.  He also served as President, Chief Executive
Officer and as a Director of Commercial Assets, Inc., an affiliate of AIC, from
its formation in October 1993 until September 1996.  In addition, from June 1990
until March 1996, Browne served as President and a Director of M.D.C. Holdings,
Inc., a national homebuilder and mortgage banking company.

Browne will serve as Chairman of Government Properties Trust's Compensation
Committee.
