Hayes Lemmerz' Daniel Sandberg Assumes Additional Leadership Post
NORTHVILLE, Mich., May 12 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Hayes Lemmerz
International, Inc. (NASDAQ:HAYZ) announced today that Daniel M. Sandberg,
President of the Automotive Brake and Powertrain Components Business Unit, will
assume additional responsibility for the Company's Materials and Logistics
Group, effective June 1, 2005. Mr. Sandberg will replace Michael Edie, who is
leaving Hayes Lemmerz to pursue other opportunities. Mr. Sandberg will
continue to report directly to Curtis Clawson, President, CEO and Chairman of
the Board.

Mr. Sandberg joined Hayes in April 1994 as Vice President - General Counsel and
Secretary. In 1996, he was given the additional responsibility of Vice
President of International Operations. In 1999, Mr. Sandberg was appointed
President of the Automotive Brake Components Business Unit, and in 2001, he was
given the additional responsibility for the Powertrain Business Unit.
Mr. Sandberg received both a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and a Law
Degree from the University of Michigan.
Michael Edie joined Hayes Lemmerz in November 2001 as the Company's first Vice
President of Materials and Logistics. "Mike has played a very important role
in our reorganization, successfully building a corporate Materials and
Logistics function and guiding Hayes Lemmerz and our suppliers through the
significant turnaround. He is a leader in his field and we wish him much
success as he enters a new phase of his life," said Mr. Clawson. "At the same
time, I am pleased that Dan has agreed to assume these additional
responsibilities. Dan brings with him a wide range of experience and a
profound knowledge of the business. Additionally, over the past five years, he
has successfully implemented several cost effective material and logistics
