Hayes Lemmerz Brake and Powertrain Components Group Receives ISO/TS 16949:2002
Certification
NORTHVILLE, Mich., Feb. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Hayes Lemmerz
International, Inc. , announced today that all facilities in its Brake and
Powertrain Components Group have achieved ISO/TS 16949:2002 (with design)
Certification, from the International Automotive Task Force (IATF), a worldwide
consortium of automotive manufacturers and trade associations. The group's
systems were audited and certified bySmithers Quality Assessments Inc. (SQA),
an independent accredited registrar.

ISO/TS 16949 is an international quality management system that aligns existing
American (QS-9000), German (VDA6.1), French (EAQF) and Italian (AVSQ) automotive
quality systems into a single standard, thereby eliminating the need for
multiple certifications. ISO/TS 16949 certification acknowledges that the
supplier has the requisite systems in place for the design/development,
production, installation and servicing of automotive- related products.

Hayes Lemmerz Automotive Brake and Powertrain Components Group manufactures
rotors and drums and brake and hub assemblies at two plants located in Homer,
Michigan and Monterrey, Mexico. The Group also manufactures intake and exhaust
manifolds, water crossovers, water pumps and other engine components, made of
aluminum and iron, in two plants located in Wabash, Indiana and Nuevo Laredo,
Mexico. The Nuevo Laredo plant also manufactures and assembles polymer intake
manifolds.
