Grill Concepts Files Extension for First Quarter Form 10-Q due to
Delay in Filing of 2004 Form 10-K


LOS ANGELES, May 12  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Grill Concepts, Inc.
(NASDAQ:GRILE) today said it has filed an extension on Form 12b-25 pertaining
to the filing of its Form 10-Q for the first quarter ended March 27, 2005.  As
previously announced, the company is adjusting its method of accounting for
operating leases to comply with recent guidance issued by the Office of Chief
Accountant of the Securities and Exchange Commission.  The company is working
diligently to complete and file its 2004 Form 10-K, along with the restatement
of its financial statements for prior fiscal years, to reflect the revised
accounting treatment.  Until the 2004 Form 10-K is finalized, the company is
unable to prepare and file its Form 10-Q for the fiscal quarter ended March 27,
2005.
