Flanders Corporation (NASDAQ: FLDR) won a purchase agreement for 145 Filtration Containment Systems for the Mixed Oxide (MOX) Fuel Fabrication Facility from Shaw AREVA MOX Services, LLC for $15.5 million. The process equipment will be used in a wide variety of applications to secure the facility being built for the MOX project at the Savannah River Site (SRS) near Aiken, South Carolina.

"Winning the Containment Filtration System award solidifies Flanders as the industry's leading supplier of Nuclear Glove boxes and Containment Filtration Equipment," said Tom Morse, VP of High Purity Operations. "We are excited to be a part of these groundbreaking advances."

"This process has taken more than a year to finalize," said Gary Chrismon, Director Glove Box Sales. "The MOX Team worked very hard to secure this order and has performed at an exceptional level. Through the total company commitment to the MOX project, this order and the additional glove box orders previously announced emphasize Flanders' proven ability as the leading supplier to Shaw Areva MOX services and the entire industry."

The project is expected to begin in the fourth quarter 2009 and will take approximately a year from design through delivery.

Flanders has a robust and mature Nuclear Quality Assurance program that meets the requirements of ASME NQA-1. Our Quality Assurance program is designed to ensure the delivery of the highest quality products that exceed all regulatory and safety requirements to our customers. This program is routinely audited for compliance by our customers within the Nuclear Industry.

About the MOX Project

In 1999, the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) signed a contract with a consortium, now called Shaw AREVA MOX Services, LLC to design, build, and operate a Mixed Oxide (MOX) Fuel Fabrication Facility. This facility will be a major component in the United States' program to dispose of surplus weapon-grade plutonium. The 600,000 square foot facility will take surplus weapon-grade plutonium, remove impurities, and mix it with uranium oxide to form MOX fuel pellets for reactor fuel assemblies.
