One module tests all 18 CWDM channels to rapidly build and troubleshoot
metro Ethernet links and C-RAN networks

QUEBEC CITY, May 17, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - EXFO Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO, TSX: EXF), the network test, monitoring and analytics experts, announced the launch of the FTB-740C-CWDM, a tunable optical time domain reflectometer (OTDR) that tests all 18 ITU-defined CWDM channels using the compact FTB-1 platform, without having to swap modules. Now multiple-service operators (MSOs) and contractors can always have the CWDM wavelength required for characterizing through multiplexers and demultiplexers (MUX/DEMUX) to provide complete end-to-end link characterization or troubleshooting for commercial services, C-RAN networks and metro Ethernet deployments.

"Multiple-service operators and their technicians need to rapidly adapt to multiple technologies in the field. Automating processes and streamlining tools and solutions is critical to simplifying technician tasks," said Stéphane Chabot, EXFO's Vice-President, Test and Measurement. "With the best CWDM testing specifications in the industry in such a compact lightweight platform, field technicians are empowered to capture accurate, first-time-right measurements in the fastest manner possible. Continuing to add EXFO's leading optical, Ethernet and multiservice test applications together on the same platform keeps technician-training costs to a minimum and makes the entire process faster, smarter and more efficient."

EXFO's newest OTDR was designed to evolve as requirements do; customers can start with as few as eight wavelengths. Keeping CAPEX in check, they can add additional CWDM wavelengths or other fiber characterization features as needed, all from a simple software update in the field.

This solution will be demonstrated by Opternus at ANGA COM 2017 in Cologne, Germany, from May 30 to June 1, and by EXFO at 2017 Fiber Connect in Orlando, Florida, from June 12 to 14.

EXFO is simultaneously launching the FTBx-740C-CWDM module, available on the FTB-2 portable platform.
