Launched five months ago, these testers are designed for outside-plant installation and maintenance of copper-based broadband services

QUEBEC CITY, Oct. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ - EXFO Inc. (NASDAQ: EXFO) (TSX: EXF) announced today that its MaxTester copper/DSL tester series has been formally approved by three tier-1 North American telecom operators. Designed for technicians installing and maintaining the latest technology of broadband services over existing copper infrastructures, EXFO's MaxTester copper/DSL testers are built specifically for outside-plant test requirements. The company has already received over 2 million US$ in orders from these three operators and expects several follow-on orders.

The MaxTester copper/DSL series consists of the MAX-630 ADSL2+/VDSL2 multiplay tester, MAX-610 copper tester and the MAX-635 copper, ADSL2+/VDSL2 and multiplay tester. Together, they comprise the most powerful, intelligent and cost-effective xDSL installation and repair testers on the market.

The MaxTester 610 and 635 provide full fault location capabilities (TDR, RFL) and true 30 MHz wideband copper testing in support of ADSL2+ and VDSL2 technologies. Featuring an integrated ADSL2+/VDSL2 modem, the MAX-635 and MAX-630 support bonding, vectoring and G.inp, the latest DSL technologies to extend the reach and rate of DSL—using two pairs to deliver high-speed multiplay services over longer distances and/or at higher data rates.

Market Differentiator: SmartR™ Test Suite

A major differentiator of the MaxTester 600 series is the unique SmartR test suite, which automatically runs key copper tests, and intelligently analyzes the results to enable technicians to quickly identify and locate faults more reliably than ever before. This EXFO innovation directly leads to a significant increase in operational efficiency by any level of technician and provides a critical tool to enable service providers to reduce their repeat report rates.

"We are very pleased that these three tier-1 North American telecom operators have selected and approved our MaxTester copper/DSL solution so quickly; they can now take advantage of the most powerful and intelligent testers on the market," said Étienne Gagnon, Vice-President of EXFO's Test and Measurement Division. "Introduced five months ago, the MaxTester copper/DSL series is the centerpiece of EXFO's copper-access product portfolio expansion, which focuses on helping customers deploy DSL-based multiplay services more accurately and efficiently."
