ST. LOUIS, June 27 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Engineered Support Systems, Inc.
(NASDAQ:EASI) received orders totaling $76.2 million from the U.S. Army for the
production of 5,902 Tactical Quiet Generator (TQG) sets. The orders, received
by the Company's Fermont subsidiary located in Bridgeport, Conn., are releases
under three existing long-term contracts with the Army, and include 2,567
3-kilowatt TQGs, 975 5-kilowatt TQGs, 1,162 10-kilowatt TQGs, 1,015 15-kilowatt
TQGs, and 183 100-kilowatt TQGs. The generator sets are slated for delivery
through fiscal 2006 and until mid-fiscal 2007.
"These orders emphasize Engineered Support's enduring key role as the
preeminent supplier of mobile electric power on the battlefield," said Gerald
A. Potthoff, Engineered Support Vice Chairman and CEO. "Further, the
commitment by the DoD of fiscal 2005 supplemental spending represented in the
majority of these orders demonstrates the priority our military places on
recapitalization of the sustainment-related equipment and programs that we
specialize in," he said.
Fermont has produced 3, 5, 10 and 15-kilowatt TQGs under two Army contracts
over the past several years, and more recently began production of the 100 and
200-kilowatt generator sets under a third contract, according to Potthoff.
Fermont has been a leading designer and manufacturer of rugged and reliable
military generator sets since 1944, and is the largest supplier of generator
sets to the U.S. military, he said.
