Engineered Support Receives $7.5 Million Contract Modification
for Electronic Test Equipment
ST. LOUIS, Feb. 11 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Engineered Support Systems, Inc.
(NASDAQ:EASI) has received a $7.5 million contract modification to a previously
awarded firm-fixed-price contract upon the exercise of the first of six (6)
available production options on the Reconfigurable Transportable Consolidated
Support System (RTCASS) program. The Company's Systems & Electronics Inc.
(SEI) subsidiary received the order under its subcontract with McDonnell
Douglas Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of the Boeing Company.
The SEI production option involves the manufacturing, testing and delivery of
20 RTCASS test station subsystems for final integration and test into the
RTCASS test station, according to Gerald A. Potthoff, Vice Chairman, CEO and
President of Engineered Support.
The RTCASS test station subsystem that SEI produces consists of the radio
frequency (RF)/microwave synthetic instrument measurement unit, RF/microwave
synthesizers, RF/microwave switching and signal conditioning, power supplies,
power monitoring, and computer subsystem including the peripherals. The Naval
Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Maryland, is the contracting authority.
The RTCASS test station is a portable, rapidly deployable automatic test
station that can be set up quickly for maintenance of avionics equipment on
U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) and USAF Special Operating Forces (SOF) aircraft. The
aircraft supported for the USMC are the F/A-18, AV-8B, MV-22 and EA-6B where
the RTCASS test station is operated on amphibious assault ships or L- Class
ships, MALS vans and fixed ground installations. The aircraft supported by the
USAF SOF is the CV-22 aircraft where the RTCASS test station is operated in
fixed ground installations and expeditionary shelters.
