ST. LOUIS, Sept. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Engineered Support Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:EASI), through its wholly-owned subsidiary Technical and Management Services Corporation (TAMSCO), received a $3.7 million contract from the U.S. Air Force's Oklahoma City Air Logistic Center (OC-ALC), Airborne Accessories Production Division (MAN), to upgrade and enhance Advanced Fuel Accessory Test Stands (AFATS) in support of DOD aerospace weapon systems. The contract calls for TAMSCO to upgrade the supportability, reliability, effectiveness, and efficiency of the existing test systems and develop new test systems by using commercial off-the-shelf components and software, according to Engineered Support's Vice Chairman and CEO Gerald A. Potthoff. "The unique capabilities TAMSCO provides to the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, in terms of test system technology and integrated logistics, exemplify the advanced sustainment solutions the entire Engineered Support team provides to its warfighter customers," Potthoff said. "Current test equipment and systems are becoming increasingly difficult and often impossible to maintain because spare parts are increasingly unavailable from Government or commercial sources. As these systems exceed their life expectancy they experience excessive failures due to maintenance issues often related to the unique and obsolete system hardware and software involved. TAMSCO will re-host and upgrade these test systems, improve their reliability, and thus ensure continuous support for the warfighters. "The accessories tested by this equipment are integral components associated with some of DOD's highest priority aerospace weapon systems, such as bomber and fighter aircraft, airlift and air refueling aircraft, and helicopters. Effective testing of these accessories is critical to flight safety," the CEO said. Examples of these accessories include fuel controls, float valves, fuel pumps, lube oil pumps, filters, spray nozzles, sensors, actuators, hydraulic valves, and pneumatic valves. Engineered Support Systems, Inc. provides advanced sustainment solutions including the design, manufacture and supply of integrated military electronics, support equipment and technical and logistics services for all branches of America's armed forces and certain foreign militaries, homeland security forces and selected government and intelligence agencies. The company also produces specialized equipment and systems for commercial and industrial applications.
