Dish, Sinclair Reach Agreement on Retransmission Deal

A day after Sinclair Broadcast Group Inc. pulled its signals from Dish Network Corp. during a contract dispute, the parties have reached an agreement in principle on a retransmission deal.

Sinclair said the company and Dish entered a two-week extension to allow time to document the agreement.

In a statement, Sinclair said "we regret any inconvenience that was caused to the Dish subscribers as a result of the short blackout."

Dish and Sinclair have been negotiating a contract that covers more than 150 local television stations owned or managed by Sinclair that reach more than five million customers in 79 markets nationwide. The signals were pulled from Dish after efforts to sign an agreement or extend the existing one failed.

Besides owning 121 TV stations, Sinclair also manages 32 through partnerships.

Dish filed a complaint earlier this month with the Federal Communications Commission, accusing Sinclair of failing to negotiate in good faith.
