Deb Shops, Inc. Reports March Sales

PHILADELPHIA, April 6  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Deb Shops, Inc. (NASDAQ:DEBS) today reported that comparable store sales decreased 1.1% for the month ended March 31, 2006.  Total sales increased 1.4% to $26.7 million from $26.3 million for the month ended March 31, 2005.  During 2005, Easter occurred during March whereas in 2006, Easter will occur in the month of April.

The Company reports financial results on the calendar month, therefore, differences in timing will occur when comparing Deb Shops' results to those of retailers reporting on a 4-5-4 calendar.  During the month of March 2006 there were five Fridays compared to four Fridays in March 2005.

For the remainder of fiscal year 2007, Deb Shops, Inc. expects to report monthly sales according to the following calendar:
