Documentum CEO Inducted Into University of Delaware Athletics Hall of Fame
PLEASANTON, Calif., Nov. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Documentum , the leading
provider of enterprise content management (ECM), today announced that Dave
DeWalt, the company's president and CEO, has been named to the University of
Delaware's Athletics Hall of Fame. The school's first ever individual sport
NCAA Division 1 All-American, DeWalt was welcomed into the Hall of Fame at an
induction ceremony recently held at the University. DeWalt, along with other
honorees, was also recognized at Delaware Stadium prior to the school's November
15 football game against the University of Massachusetts (which Delaware
subsequently won in triple overtime, 51-45). DeWalt is the first and only
wrestler to have been inducted into the school's Athletics Hall of Fame.
The University of Delaware established the Athletics Hall of Fame to salute
outstanding athletes, coaches and administrators who have contributed to the
school's athletic tradition of excellence. Inductees are selected by a
committee that includes University athletics staff, coaches, alumni and members
of the school's Board of Trustees. Athletes are singled out for reaching the
highest level of achievement in their sport and bringing prestige to the
University of Delaware.
"I am extremely honored to be named to the University of Delaware's Athletics
Hall of Fame," said Dave DeWalt, president and CEO of Documentum. "The
University is known and respected for its commitment to scholastic excellence in
combination with athletic, and my experience there -- balancing a heavy academic
schedule with competitive sports -- was truly the best possible preparation for
my career and personal life."
While attending the University of Delaware, DeWalt was a wrestler from 1982
through 1986. Nearly unbeatable on the mats, he set 12 school records during
his career. DeWalt became Delaware's first-ever individual sport All-American in
1986. He was also named Delaware's Outstanding Senior Male Athlete of the Year
in 1985-86, won a school-record of three East Coast Conference titles and
advanced to the NCAA Championships three times. DeWalt graduated from the
University in 1986, with a bachelor's degree in computer science.
