SkillSoft and Docent Host Free Webinar on the Use of e-learning to Meet
Environmental, Health, and Safety Compliance Standards
Invensys Director of e-Learning Will Discuss Use of Off-the-Shelf Courseware and
LMS Tracking to Boost Employee Learning and Compliance
NASHUA, N.H., Dec. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SkillSoft PLC , a leading
provider of e-learning courseware and referenceware for business and IT
professionals, today announced a free webinar on the use of e-learning and
learning management to meet environment, health, and safety issues and
compliance standards on Wednesday, December 3, from noon to 1:00 p.m. (Eastern
Standard Time). The webinar, which is co-sponsored by Docent , a leading
provider of integrated software solutions proven to directly drive business
performance through learning, will discuss in detail how e-learning solutions
can meet the compliance requirements of government agencies related to
environmental, health, and safety issues. The webinar will cover all potential
elements of a comprehensive and integrated learning solution, including
off-the-shelf courseware, provided by GoTrain, a subsidiary of SkillSoft focused
on EH&S training, and a robust learning tracking, management, reporting, and
analysis platform provided by Docent.
Michael Bleyhl, director of e-learning for Invensys, will be the webinar's guest
speaker. Bleyhl will present a case study on the Invensys' EH&S College, one of
six colleges in Invensys University. EH&S College incorporates the GoTrain
courseware library, comprised of more than 90 off- the-shelf courses addressing
a wide range of EH&S topics and the associated regulatory and compliance
requirements. Several of the courses have been adapted for a worldwide audience
and specific Invensys requirements. All learning activities in Invensys
University are tracked, managed, and reported using Docent Enterprise(tm), a
comprehensive learning and performance management platform.
The Invensys EH&S College, which began rollout on November 1, 2003, will be
available to all Invensys personnel worldwide by the end of 2003. Hazard
communication, lockout/tagout, personal protective equipment, office and
computer ergonomics, and workplace stress are among the topic areas promoted in
the initial college rollout. The Invensys EH&S learning solution is a direct
result of an interoperability partnership between SkillSoft and Docent to ensure
seamless integration of GoTrain courseware and Docent Enterprise.
"The meeting of regulatory and internal requirements for EHS training seems to
get more difficult each year," said Bleyhl. "Budgetary constraints and our
movement towards a more field service orientation have made training through
traditional classroom settings less effective. By using the GoTrain- Docent
solution, we are able to deliver quality EHS content to a global population of
employees when it is most convenient for them and their businesses. In
addition, we are confident that we are sending the same message about safety to
all employees, therefore ensuring the building of common EHS culture here at
Invensys."
"Companies today must safeguard not only their own employees, but also visitors,
contract employees, customers, and people in the surrounding community," said
Norm Ford, GoTrain's director of compliance solutions and host of the webinar.
"In this caretaker role, companies must develop programs that focus on the
prevention of injuries and illness and the promotion of safe and healthful work
practices and attitudes. Additionally, they must meet the ever-changing
requirements of government agencies such as OSHA, EPA, and DOT."
