Flowers Foods Elects FSU's Dean Melvin Stith to Board of
Directors 


THOMASVILLE, Ga., July 7  /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The board of directors of
Flowers Foods (NYSE:FLO) has elected Melvin T. Stith, Ph.D., dean of the
College of Business at Florida State University, to the company's board of
directors. With the addition, Flowers Foods' board expands to nine directors,
seven of whom are independent.

Dr. Stith has been dean of the College of Business, Florida State University in
Tallahassee, Florida since 1991. He also is Jim Moran Professor of Business
Administration. Under Dr. Stith's leadership, the College of Business has been
consistently ranked as one of the top fifty undergraduate programs in the
country and, currently, the College ranks in the top forty programs.

A native of Jarratt, Virginia, Dr. Stith received his undergraduate education
at Norfolk State University and his MBA and Ph.D. in Marketing from the School
of Management at Syracuse University.

Dr. Stith serves on the board of directors of Synovus Financial Corporation
(NYSE:SNV) and Correctional Services Corporation (NASDAQ:CSCQ). He previously
served on the board of directors of Rexall Sundown, Inc. and Keebler Foods.
