Multi-million dollar network enhancement will provide new choices for scalable, high-performance Ethernet, Internet, Wi-Fi and advanced voice services

Comcast Business today announced a major proactive expansion of its advanced network across the Denver metro area, providing local businesses with access to new high-speed Internet and fiber optic Ethernet service options. The fiber-based Ethernet network is capable of delivering speeds up to 10 Gigabits-per-second (Gbps). These upgrades will support the metro area’s thriving business climate and economy; and represent the latest of Comcast’s continued investment in Colorado.

Comcast is investing more than $10 million to deliver an Ethernet and commercial Wi-Fi experience to more enterprises located in multiple metro areas including downtown Denver, Aurora, Englewood, Castle Rock, Wheat Ridge and more. The expanded network will offer more choice in technology options for many industries located in the initial expansion areas, and will provide access to a comprehensive portfolio of advanced communications services to help them improve productivity and scale their operations.

“Comcast is a technology leader and we welcome this significant investment in Denver’s high-performance infrastructure, the backbone of our growing economy,” said Tom Clark, chief executive officer of the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation. “From high-tech agencies to hospitals, schools and corporations, bandwidth is increasingly becoming the engine that drives all businesses.”

Comcast Business recently received four Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) Ethernet Excellence Awards, including the prestigious Best Service of the Year for North America. In addition, Comcast Business was named the fastest-growing Ethernet provider on Vertical Systems Group’s Year-End 2014 U.S. Carrier Ethernet LEADERBOARD for the second consecutive year.

With this expansion, Metro Denver businesses will have access to a comprehensive portfolio of Ethernet options from Comcast Business, including Ethernet Dedicated Internet, Ethernet Private Line, Ethernet Virtual Private Line and Ethernet Network Services that provide Internet access, point-to-point and point-to-multipoint connectivity at bandwidth that scales up to 10 Gbps. Companies will also be able to deploy Comcast Business VoiceEdge, a cloud-based voice and unified communications solution designed to help customers run a faster, more efficient business.

Comcast’s fiber-based Ethernet network is ideal for business operations that require higher bandwidths to move high data traffic such as video conferencing, streaming and multiple users on a Wi-Fi network, as well as file sharing, back-up and cloud-based applications. In addition, Comcast’s network is capable of connecting multiple locations of one company as if they were in the same building.

“Our network expansion in Denver and the surrounding communities is another example of Comcast’s commitment to bring businesses more options for high-capacity network connectivity, which is fundamental to economic development and growth,” said Shawn Adamson, vice president of Comcast Business. “Businesses establishing roots in Colorado need not only physical space to expand, but also room to scale capacity as their technology needs evolve.”
