Digital Insight and CheckFree Lead American Bankers Association
Seminar on Changing Profitability Drivers in Banking
Market Leaders and Top Industry Association Share Expertise and Insights on
Leveraging the Online Channel to Grow and Retain Customer Relationships
CALABASAS, Calif. and NORCROSS, Ga., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Digital
Insight Corp. (NASDAQ:DGIN) (http://www.digitalinsight.com/), the leading
online banking provider, and CheckFree Corporation (NASDAQ:CKFR)
(http://www.checkfree.com/), a leading provider of financial electronic
commerce services and products, led a December American Bankers Association
(ABA) Telephone/Webcast briefing on leveraging the online channel to grow and
retain customer relationships entitled, "Leveraging Your Online Channel: The
Changing Profitability Drivers in Banking."
More than 170 senior bank managers participated in the briefing that encouraged
banks to embrace today's market challenges as opportunities to grow share of
wallet. Experts from Digital Insight and CheckFree, along with mutual client
Thrivent Financial Bank, explained the key factors driving profitability and
offered actionable solutions on understanding the role of electronic billing
and payment in retaining customers.
"Today's market is a battle for deposit share. Electronic billing and payment
is the critical weapon to combat churn and protect and grow valuable customer
relationships," said Katherine Jansen, senior vice president of corporate
strategy for Digital Insight, the exclusively endorsed ABA vendor for Internet
banking, cash management, online lending and web development. Research firm
Celent reports that the median annual customer attrition rate for banks in the
United States is 14 percent with the spread ranging from 12 percent to 30
percent. This statistic, Celent explains, means that while banks are trying to
grow their assets, they are replacing just as many customers simultaneously.
"The online channel is an effective tool, but its effectiveness is contingent
on how banks leverage it to drive adoption and usage by their customers," added
Jeff Weikert, vice president and channel executive of the CSP Client
Development Organization, Electronic Commerce Division, for CheckFree
Corporation. "A high-quality and easy customer experience is key to fueling
greater usage and ultimately customer retention."
The ABA Telephone/Webcast briefing was delivered through the ABA Marketing
Network, an affiliate of the ABA. The ABA Marketing Network is the financial
services industry's leading provider of marketing education and information,
professional growth opportunities and networking resources.
Bankers unable to participate in the Telephone/Webcast briefing can still get
access to the information by ordering an audio tape and participant kit through
