CCC Information Services Inc. today announces it is
offering five schools $25,000 in collision repair training and
education scholarships to assist deserving students pursuing a career
in the automotive-collision repair industry. The CCC Outstanding
Student Technician Scholarship, developed in cooperation with the
I-CAR Education Foundation, is now accepting applications for the 2006
program. Applications can be obtained via www.cccis.com and must be
submitted by 5 p.m. on Feb. 6, 2006. Winners will be announced in
April 2006.
"Retaining and recruiting qualified repair technicians remains a
critical challenge for our industry," said Jim Dickens, senior vice
president at CCC. "We have created the CCC Outstanding Student
Technician Scholarship program to help ensure that the best and
brightest student technicians remain in school and go on to work in
the industry. And, as we celebrate our 25th anniversary this year, we
wanted to give something back to the industry that has been very
supportive of us, while reaffirming CCC's commitment to the future of
automotive claims and collision repair."
According to the CollisionWeek 2005 Business Conditions and
Repairer Optimism report, nearly 19 percent of repair facilities
reported that they were unable to fill qualified technician positions
in 2004. Additionally, more than 27 percent of the larger, MSO-level
repair facilities reported having a hard time filling positions in
2005 and more than 11 percent of all repair facilities reported that
they've been unable to fill open positions for more than one month.
Ron Ray, executive director of the I-CAR Education Foundation,
stated that: "The shortage of qualified repair technicians has the
potential to negatively impact the ability of shop owners to run
efficient and profitable businesses. CCC's scholarship program will
address this issue head on, providing funding to help students receive
a high-quality education before entering the collision repair
workforce."

About I-CAR Education Foundation
The I-CAR Education Foundation was created in 1991 to solve a
problem. The collision repair industry was facing a critical shortage
of quality entry-level employees. The career and technical education
system was not turning out enough quality graduates, and the
industry's poor image was hampering its ability to attract quality
students. The Foundation is a not-for profit organization that is
working to attract quality entry-level candidates and assist in
preparing them for careers in the collision industry. The Foundation
provides the most advanced curriculum, instructor training research
and related services to career and technical education.
