Mellanox Selects CATC's PCI Express Analyzer to Accelerate Their Product
Development
PCI Express Protocol Analyzer Key to Timely Delivery of InfiniBand HCA
SANTA CLARA, Calif., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Computer Access
Technology Corporation(CATC) , a leading communications protocol expert
company, today announced the Mellanox(R) Technologies Ltd., the leader in
InfiniBand(SM) solutions, has selected the CATC PETracer(TM) ML, PCI Express(TM)
protocol analyzer for use in the design and debug of their third generation
InfiniBand Host Channel Adapters (HCA), the InfiniHost III Ex. Both companies
are exhibiting at the Intel Developer's Forum (IDF) in San Francisco, which
begins today; CATC in booth #534 and Mellanox in booth #640.
"The PETracer ML's superior analysis capabilities has helped us to validate our
design and to quickly locate and identify software and configuration issues
which otherwise would have taken us days, if not weeks, to find and correct.
This has allowed us to accelerate our development schedules and meet our
delivery dates to our OEM customers," said Roni Ashuri, vice president of
Engineering for Mellanox. "Over the years we have used CATC's InfiniBand
analyzers which have proven to be an invaluable part of our design process.
Even before we had our first prototypes we used the CATC analyzers to validate
our design and ensure a first time correct implementation."
The InfiniHost III Ex features an 8x PCI Express interface that delivers 32 and
64-bit InfiniBand capabilities for PCI Express based servers. The InfiniHost III
Ex includes dual 10 Gbps InfiniBand ports that deliver unmatched throughput and
extremely low latencies in a low power single chip implementation. In addition
to the semiconductor device, Mellanox is shipping a low profile InfiniHost III
Ex HCA PCI Express add-in adapter card.
"Mellanox is the leading provider of InfiniBand semiconductor products and when
they needed a PCI Express analyzer to support their product development, we were
happy that they once again selected CATC's expert analysis tools," stated
Carmine Napolitano, president of CATC. "We are committed to broadening our
product footprint in order to meet our customers' growing needs by delivering a
wide range of protocol solutions."
PETracer ML uses a high impedance non-intrusive probing technology allowing
full, unaltered data pass-through. It offers a dual approach for tapping into
the PCI Express fabric with a slot interposer card and a mid-bus probe.
PETracer ML utilizes the intuitive and powerful CATC Trace(TM) expert analysis
software to process, decode and analyze captured PCI Express traffic. Embedded
in this sophisticated application is a deep understanding of the PCI Express
protocol hierarchy and intricacies, enabling engineers to quickly capture and
validate product designs. The CATC Trace provides accurate, reliable and
thorough decodes of Transaction Layer Packets (TLPs), Data Link Layer Packets
(DLLPs) and all PCI Express primitives. For deeper analysis, users can display
packet contents as raw 10-bit codes.
PETracer ML utilizes the CATC Universal Protocol Analysis System(TM) (UPAS(TM)
10000), a high bandwidth hardware platform capable of supporting multi-lane
analysis and traffic generation for PCI Express as well as Fibre Channel,
InfiniBand, SAS and Serial ATA.
