CATC Introduces PETracer EML X16 PCI Express Protocol Analyzer
CATC 16-Lane PCI Express Analyzer Debuts at PCI-SIG Developers Conference
SAN JOSE, Calif., PCI-SIG Developers Conference, June 14
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Computer Access Technology Corporation (CATC)
(NASDAQ:CATZ), a leading communications protocol expert company, today
announced the next generation of its industry-leading PETracer family of
products, the PETracer EML, a 16-lane PCI Express Analyzer. It is built on
CATC's newest and most advanced Universal Protocol Analyzer System (UPAS)
platform to date, the UPAS 100K. The PETracer EML analyzer system captures,
analyzes and displays bidirectional 16-Lane PCI Express traffic to allow
semiconductor, motherboard and add-in card manufacturers to bring their PCI
Express solutions to market faster.
The PETracer EML will be shown at the CATC booth, #26, at the PCI-SIG
Developers Conference in the San Jose McEnery Convention Center through June
15th. CATC will also demonstrate the capabilities of the other members of its
PCI Express product family including the PETracer and PETracer ML protocol
analyzers and the PETrainer ML bus exerciser.
"The PCI Express industry is seeing rapid growth with the introduction of many
new high-speed applications by our member companies," said Tony Pierce, PCI-SIG
chairman. "We are pleased to see CATC's contribution to provide PCI Express
protocol verification systems to analyze traffic, diagnose problems, and test
for interoperability which enables manufacturers to bring innovative, compliant
products to market faster."
"We are extremely proud of the new PETracer EML which represents CATC's third
generation PCI Express protocol expert analysis system. We are excited to be
in a position to accelerate the industry's adoption of PCI Express by
leveraging our close working relationships with key PCI Express technology
leaders to deliver the advanced functionality built into the PETracer EML,"
said Carmine Napolitano, president of CATC. "We have worked hard to gain our
market leadership in this industry and remain committed to retaining this
leadership position by delivering premier development tools for our demanding
PCI Express customers."
"The PCI Express industry is on the verge of taking off -- increasing the
demand for high-speed development and debug tools," said Jim Pappas, director
of technology initiatives for Intel's Enterprise Platform Group. "To
accelerate product development and foster innovation, it is important for
platform designers, add-in card manufacturers and system integrators to have
the latest protocol analysis and advanced verification systems."
The PETracer EML is the first protocol analyzer to utilize CATC's UPAS 100K
platform. The UPAS 100K is specifically designed for high-speed serial
protocols such as PCI Express. The expanded memory buffer of 8 GB allows users
to capture deeper traces over longer time periods. The platform also provides
future scalability with expanded hardware capabilities and the capacity for
additional plug-in modules in the same chassis, significantly reducing the
lifecycle cost of ownership.
The PETracer EML captures bus traffic from the target system non-intrusively by
using a slot interposer card. The PETracer EML utilizes the unique and
intuitive CATC Trace expert analysis software, giving users the power to
logically group events in a hierarchical display. It also incorporates CATC's
Link Tracker time-synchronized display. This chronological view of DWORDs
moving upstream and downstream across each lane provides precise timing context
for analyzing PCI Express traffic. The combination of these two methods of
viewing and analyzing the bus creates a uniquely powerful approach to
facilitating product time to market for PCI Express developers. The product
also features sophisticated controls, powerful triggering conditions, and
advanced search capabilities to further enhance users' abilities to solve
engineering and production problems.
