CATC Enhances Product Line With Multi-Protocol Analysis
Single Application to Simultaneously Capture and Analyze Traffic for PCI
Express, Fibre Channel, SAS, and SATA
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- INTEL DEVELOPER FORUM --
Computer Access Technology Corporation (NASDAQ:CATZ) (CATC), a global
communications protocol expert company and leading provider of advanced
verification systems and connectivity products for digital communications
standards, today announced multi-protocol analysis support for its PCI Express,
Fibre Channel, and SAS/SATA analyzers. Multi-protocol analysis allows users to
combine standalone analyzers to capture high-speed traffic from heterogeneous
bus environments -- synchronized to a common clock. Intended for developers
testing systems that incorporate different bus technologies, this capability
can also synchronize traffic captured across multiple analyzers, all recording
the same protocol.
Central to CATC's multi-protocol test methodology is the ability to configure
the analyzers to capture traffic and trigger across multiple busses. This
powerful capability enables users to isolate specific packets as they traverse
from one bus to the other, or troubleshoot problems due to bus interaction or
latency. Once captured, the application presents protocol traffic using the
CATC Trace(TM) Expert Analysis software. Even if traffic is recorded at
different transfer rates, the display automatically time-aligns frame-level
events with 1 DWORD time resolution.
CATC's graphical interface shows traffic using expandable headers with
automatic decoding of higher-level protocol events. All of the trace displays
available in the application for the different busses may be operated
independently or in synchronized mode. CATC users have a full array of search,
performance, event metrics, reporting and bus-utilization graphs within the
multi-protocol analysis environment.
"Unlike monolithic 'closed-box' systems, CATC's approach empowers developers to
link up to four of its mobile UPAS(TM) 10K-based chassis on-the- fly and at no
additional cost," said James Wright, director storage and networking products
for CATC. "The flexibility to 'pool' standalone analyzers as needed from
multiple locations enables the debugging of complex system- level problems
while maximizing the functionality of our customers' investment in test and
measurement equipment."
Availability
The multi-protocol analysis capability is scheduled for release at the
beginning of the fourth quarter 2004. Existing customers can obtain the
software upgrade under their maintenance agreements. For pricing or additional
information, please contact CATC at http://www.catc.com/ or its worldwide
network of distribution partners.
