CATC Announces 3 Gbps Bus Exerciser Companion for Its SAS/SATA Analyzer System
Integrated System Emulates Initiator or Target Behavior for Stress Testing And
Validating Silicon, Devices and Systems
SAN FRANCISCO, Intel Developer's Forum (IDF), Feb. 17
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Computer Access Technology Corporation (CATC) , a
leading communications protocol expert company, today announced the availability
of the CATC SASTrainer(TM), a 3 Gbps traffic generator and bus exerciser option
for its premier SAS and SATA analyzer system. SASTrainer features both
initiator and target emulation modes. The complete SASTracer/Trainer(TM) v1.1
protocol analyzer/exerciser system can be configured to record 1 or 2 channels
while generating SAS and/or SATA traffic, making it a highly flexible and
cost-effective solution for end-to-end SAS and SATA test and analysis.
SASTracer/Trainer is an invaluable tool for the early development of SAS devices
and storage systems.
The CATC SASTracer/Trainer enables engineers to transmit and record both
initiator and device side traffic for SAS and SATA with a single system. It
serves a dual function -- generating reliable and repeatable traffic and
unobtrusively monitoring the bus by recording and analyzing selected traffic.
The system can be used selectively for analysis only, traffic generation only,
or to perform both functions simultaneously. SASTracer/Trainer makes it easy to
execute overnight stress testing of Serial ATA and Serial Attached SCSI devices
and systems to confirm long-term reliability. It can also be used to validate
protocol compliance, reliability and fault handling by injecting code
violations, CRC, scrambling and protocol errors.
"With early development samples of Serial ATA and SAS 3 Gbpssilicon now
available, there is an urgent need for validation tools to confirm design and
interoperability. Due to the nature of the development lab, an analyzer that is
small, portable and easy to set up is key for troubleshooting design issues,"
said James Wright, director of Storage and Networking Products for CATC. "We
are committed to delivering comprehensive solutions that meet the needs of
design engineers on multiple levels, from in-depth analysis to portability at an
attractive price point."
Based on CATC's Universal Protocol Analyzer System(TM) (UPAS(TM) 10000),
SASTracer/Trainer v1.1 is designed to address both SAS and pure Serial ATA
development environments. This highly flexible test and verification platform
offers plug and play compatibility between SAS and SATA links, including support
for SATA II analysis. In addition to SAS and SATA, the UPAS 10000 platform
supports Fibre Channel, InfiniBand and PCI Express analysis.
Availability
CATC is accepting orders for the SASTracer/Trainer v1.1 with delivery beginning
in March 2004. Existing SASTracer(TM) customers can upgrade their analyzers by
purchasing the SASTrainer module for their UPAS platform. For pricing or
additional information, please contact CATC or its worldwide network of
distribution partners.
