VoiceGenie Technologies Inc., the leader in VoiceXML,
CCXML, and speech platforms, and Brooktrout Technology, a leading
supplier of media processing and call-control products today announced
that they have partnered to deliver enabling technologies for carrier
enhanced services within the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) framework.
The joint offering will provide customers a best-in-class, scalable
Media Resource Function (MRF) for next-generation wireline, wireless
and broadband network deployments.
VoiceGenie and Brooktrout have a long-standing technology partner
relationship that is further augmented with this partnership. Under
this new arrangement, VoiceGenie will make available the VoiceGenie
Media Controller, which acts as the Media Resource Function Controller
(MRFC), and the Brooktrout SnowShore IP Media Server(TM) will serve as
the Media Resource Function Processor (MRFP) as defined by the 3G IP
Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network architecture.
The VoiceGenie Media Controller is a software solution based
completely on open-standards including SIP, VoiceXML, MRCP and CCXML.
The VoiceGenie Media Controller provides the MRFC, executing VoiceXML
and CCXML applications by controlling leading MRFPs such as the
Brooktrout SnowShore IP Media Server, as well as other media resources
such as Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) and Text-To-Speech (TTS)
servers. VoiceGenie's independently certified support for the full W3C
VoiceXML 2.0 specification, as well as complete support for VoiceXML
2.1 and CCXML 1.0, allows applications to be standards-based and
portable, while leveraging the latest advanced technology in speech.
The flexibility offered by VoiceXML and CCXML allows for the MRF
server to be controlled by SIP-based application servers supporting a
number of services from basic messaging and multi-party conferencing
to prepaid services and advanced video applications. It also allows
standalone VoiceXML/CCXML-based services to be deployed on the MRF as
well.
VoiceGenie's extensive support for speech, including a
standards-based integration via MRCP with all of the leading speech
vendors, coupled with MRCP proxy capabilities that enhance scalability
and availability of speech resources, ensure that applications can
achieve a far greater level of sophistication than many of today's
simple touch-tone based interactions.
In addition to multimedia and speech processing, resource
management is a critical function in managing complex services. The
capabilities of the VoiceGenie MRFC allows for optimal resource
allocation and usage of all MRFP resources in either single pools or
in multiple distributed clusters.
"VoiceGenie and Brooktrout share the same vision in providing
software based, open-standards solutions that give customers maximum
flexibility in delivering new multimedia and speech-enabled services,"
said Frank Tersigni, VP of Marketing and Business Development at
VoiceGenie Technologies. "Our combined solution unlocks new
opportunities for increasing the velocity of these new services all
within the framework of an open systems approach based on SIP,
VoiceXML and CCXML."
The Brooktrout SnowShore IP Media Server(TM) is the industry's
premier software-based, carrier-grade IP media server. It leverages
the simplicity, openness, and flexibility of SIP, VoiceXML, and MSCML
to provide a cost-effective and scalable IP media server solution,
powering a broad range of voice and video services for next-generation
wireline, wireless and broadband networks including support for the
3GPP/3GPP2 IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) network architecture.
"VoiceGenie's recognized expertise in VoiceXML and CCXML provides
an ideal choice when coupled with Brooktrout's industry leading
software-only SnowShore IP Media server," said Peter Vescuso, vice
president of market development, Brooktrout Technology. "Brooktrout
pioneered the software-based MRFP for enabling rich multimedia
services, and when combined with VoiceGenie's software based
solutions, we deliver an unsurpassed solution that leverages
industry-standard protocols and platforms in meeting customer demands
for reliability, performance and scalability."
