Leveraging Java EE 5 Features for the Construction and Deployment of SOA Services SHANGHAI, China, Dec. 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BEAWorld -- BEA Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:BEAS), a world leader in enterprise infrastructure software, today announced a preview release for WebLogic Server(R) 10.3 of SCA, a set of open standards that can help enable developers to leverage SOA to assemble composite applications from heterogeneous components. This release demonstrates BEA's commitment to helping the Java EE developer with development and deployment of enterprise-grade SOA projects. BEA SCA tooling will be supported through BEA Workshop(TM) and the ability to store SCA components in an enterprise repository with AquaLogic(R) Enterprise Repository. SCA is designed to facilitate highly adaptable IT by wrapping and standardizing heterogeneous components, making them more easily discovered and connected. It will be deployed as part of BEA WebLogic Server, allowing organizations to draw upon the server's management, reliability and scalability benefits for SCA. "BEA has taken the industry a huge leap forward by making application composition viable," said Guy Churchward, vice president of WebLogic products, BEA Systems, Inc. "We are focused on helping to enable customers to realize the full potential of WebLogic products and SOA. BEA established itself as the enterprise Java leader in being the first major vendor to market with Java EE 5, and we're doing it again for application composition with Service Component Architecture." In support of BEA's Genesis, a dynamic business application platform initiative that promotes the convergence of SOA, Business Process Management (BPM) and enterprise social computing, SCA can provide the ability to compose applications by assembling components without writing code. SCA is a fundamental enabling technology designed to wrap and standardize heterogeneous components making them more easily discovered and connected -- characteristics that are critical for composition. SCA can help enable organizations that have invested in SOA to take full advantage of the architecture. With application composition, building SOA services is faster, easier and more reliable; a process manageable not only by developers but business users as well. BEA SCA is designed to enable organizations to rapidly assemble SOA services through: -- Reduced Complexity. Develop distributed service networks using plain old Java objects (POJOs). The complexities of transport level APIs are handled by SCA metadata and wire-up facilities. -- Tooling support. BEA Workshop offers a single tool for users to find, create, submit, view, and configure SCA components. The Eclipse plug- ins allow direct access to BEA AquaLogic Enterprise Repository from within the environment, allowing users to work with SCA artifacts quickly and easily. -- Repository capabilities. BEA AquaLogic Enterprise Repository promotes easy access to SCA components in store for quick assembly. The SCA runtime technology preview for WebLogic Server is available today as a free download. BEA SCA and its tooling and repository support will be released in the second half of 2008. For more information, please visit http://www.bea.com/weblogic.
