ATMI's Treatment Systems Partners With Metron
Expanding European Semiconductor Customer Sales, Service, and Support
DANBURY, Conn., May 24 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- ATMI, Inc. , a supplier of
materials and materials packaging to the world's leading semiconductor
manufacturers, today announced that ATMI Treatment Systems, its environmental
abatement equipment business, has signed an exclusive agreement with Metron
Technology N.V. , a global outsource solutions company, to handle product
sales, service, and support throughout Europe.
Tod Higinbotham, ATMI Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, said, "Metron will
do a great job covering abatement systems customers in Europe. They are
supplying additional selling and marketing resources -- above and beyond ATMI's
contributions -- required for continued market strength."
Steve Tsu, General Manager of the ATMI Treatment Systems business said,
"One-fifth of the world's semiconductors are manufactured in Europe. By
leveraging the expertise and experience Metron has in supporting sales and
service with our customer base, ATMI Treatment Systems is able to focus on
expanding our technology-leading abatement systems product lines and market
position."
Dennis Riccio, President and Chief Operating Officer of Metron, commented,
"Handling ATMI Treatment Systems' customer relationships in Europe leverages
Metron's core strengths as a global outsourcing sales, service, and support
partner. Metron has long been an outsource sales and service partner of ATMI in
Southeast Asia. Our fab-focused sales and support groups extend ATMI Treatment
Systems' reach further into Europe-based semiconductor customers."
In October 2003, ATMI announced its objective to exit its non-core businesses,
including ATMI Treatment Systems, by outright sale or joint venture and expects
this to take place by the end of 2004. ATMI will be reallocating those
resources to its core materials and materials packaging businesses.
ATMI Treatment Systems offers a complete range of proven technology solutions
for all process types and modules for a complete fab-wide solution. As well as
the existing Vector(R) (wet), Novapure(R) (dry), Guardian(R) (thermal), and
CDO(R) integrated technology systems, ATMI Treatment Systems is introducing the
Marathon(TM) 8500. The new Marathon(TM) combination abatement tool will offer
unrivalled gas destruction efficiency in ultra-high volume applications,
including epitaxial, low-k, and perfluorinated compounds (PFC) process exhaust
abatement.
