                        NON-EXECUTIVE BOARD APPOINTMENT

Aston Villa PLC is pleased to announce the appointment with immediate effect of
Stephen Kind FCCA to the Board as a non executive director. He will also chair
the Audit Committee.

The appointment is for an initial three month period pending the restructuring
of the executive management team.

From 1993 to 2002 Mr Kind worked for Leicester City Football Club in a number of
senior roles, including  Finance Director and Chief Executive, having been
appointed to  the Board in1997.  During this period, he was responsible for the
operating performance  of the business and in addition  he oversaw  the
development of the Walkers Stadium and the #13m strategic media alliance with
NTL.

Mr Kind, aged 40, was also responsible for securing record sponsorship deals for
the Club and for the implementation of a successful marketing and pricing
strategy which increased average home gates by more than 50 per cent. from
20,000 to over 30,000,  upon the opening of the new Stadium in August 2002.  In
2001, he was nominated by the Premier League to act as a Trustee for the
Football League Players' Pension Scheme.

Commenting on the appointment, Chairman Doug Ellis, said : "I am delighted that
Steve has joined us on the Board. He has strong financial experience in the
football industry and will be a great help to us in this interim period  as we
move forward with our plans to re-structure our Executive Management Team."
