Company & press event to be held October 15, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. - at Anaren headquarters 6635 Kirkville Road, East Syracuse, NY SYRACUSE, N.Y., Oct. 05 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Anaren, Inc. (NASDAQ:ANEN) announced today that, on October 15, it will celebrate being named the 2007 National Subcontractor of the Year by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). According to a press release issued by the SBA, the award "honors small businesses that have provided the government and industry with outstanding goods and services." Anaren was originally nominated by Raytheon Missile Systems (Tucson, AZ) at the regional level for SBA Region II (NY and NJ). In April, 2007, the company was then selected by the SBA from among 10 regional nominees to be the national winner. (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/20021022/NYTU197LOGO ) In an award presentation to be held at Anaren's Syracuse, NY headquarters on October 15, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. -- which will include comments by U.S. Congressman Jim Walsh (New York, 25th district) -- Raytheon will officially recognize and acknowledge Anaren's SBA award. The event will also include a tour of Anaren's newly constructed 54,000 square foot addition to its Syracuse manufacturing facility. "We are proud of Anaren's achievement," says Robert Parra, Raytheon's Senior Supplier Manager of Supply Chain Management. "Being recognized by the U.S. Small Business Administration demonstrates the type of commitment that Anaren has made to its customers as well as the community." Raytheon's nomination of Anaren stems from its long-term relationship with the Syracuse company which specializes in complex, high-density RF and microwave technology employed in such Raytheon-driven programs as the Evolved SeaSparrow Missile (ESSM), the SeaRAM Anti-Ship Missile Defense System, and the Phalanx Close-In Weapon System (CIWS). "Anaren is honored to have been nominated by Raytheon Missile Systems for this award -- and excited to have been selected by the SBA given the caliber of our fellow nominees," said Anaren President and CEO, Lawrence Sala, who along with Tim Glavin, Space & Defense Corporate Business Development manager at Anaren, received the award on the company's behalf at an SBA event held in Washington, DC earlier this year. "It is testimony to the innovative spirit of our team, evidence of the dynamic things happening at Raytheon, and proof of the ingenuity occurring in today's U.S. defense sector as a whole," added Sala.
