CANTV Honors AFC With 'Best in Class' Award
PETALUMA, Calif., Aug. 9 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- AFC(R) (NASDAQ:AFCI), The
Acronym for Access(SM), today announced that CANTV, Venezuela's largest
telecommunications company, has recognized AFC with a "Best in Class" award for
its market-leading access solutions. With this award, AFC holds the honor of
being the most recognized supplier to the CANTV organization for access
solutions.
In conjunction with AFC's Venezuelan representative, IEM Engineering, AFC
provides a full suite of access solutions to CANTV for the delivery of voice
and high-speed data services. This award marks the fourth consecutive time that
CANTV has publicly recognized the benefits of AFC's solutions and the services
provided by IEM Engineering, a key associate of AFC's in the Central
America/Latin America (CALA) region.
"AFC is delighted and honored to be recognized for this top award from such a
leader in the telecommunications industry. Our continued mission is to provide
the highest quality telecommunications solutions to CANTV in Venezuela," said
Jack Ermey, vice president of global sales for AFC. "Both AFC and our local
partner, IEM, are extremely proud of the recognition by CANTV for four
consecutive years as a significant supplier."
AFC began working with CANTV in 1997 by providing its AccessMAX(TM) family of
next-generation digital loop carriers. As the needs of CANTV changed and AFC's
NGDLC platforms evolved to integrated multiservice access platforms (IMAPs) to
meet the growing need for broadband, AFC continuously answered the call. Today,
in fact, AFC's comprehensive AccessMAX portfolio provides CANTV with V5.2
IMAPs, including integrated voice gateways and ADSL 6+6H (ADSL + POTS) line
cards, as well as outside plant cabinets, and network management systems.
"AFC's industry-leading solutions meet CANTV's growing demand for broadband
access applications," added Ermey, "while providing them with an easy,
cost-effective migration path to H.248 packetized voice gateways and
fiber-to-the-premises solutions."

About CANTV

Movilnet, CANTV Servicios and Caveguias, has made CANTV the telecommunications
leader, offering its customers seamless solutions in wireline and wireless
